whither lancer?

What do you guys think of lancer as a buy now? it is a proven car in indian conditions, now available at 7.5 lakhs. Is it too late to log on to the lancer club now or if what you want is an economic and comfortable car which can be kept for some years to come it is still not late?

Its an excellent vehicle.
But service is an issue. The resale value would not be good.

Speaking for myself, I will no longer choose a car for its resale value. What counts is features, comfort and service network - not just the service centre in your city.

Well if lancer appeals to you and if after sales service is decent enough in your area, don't listen to others... just buy it. Its an excellent car and inspite of it being around for so long, it still is one of the best looking cars available.

I have no idea why people discount that car. I'd still buy a lancer over a lame NHC anyday. Doesnt matter how old it is. When I was planning to buy the Cedia, very few people actually recommended that I go ahead with it and I got all sort of suggestions right from Aveo to Civic, none of which really offered me what I wanted.

I'm happy that I didn't listen to any of them .

in india, although the market isn't as discerning as the ones in europe or america, biases rule the roost. if something has kept a model from becoming a best seller in its time, it's dead for good with no chance of revival - no matter how good the car might be.

prime examples - lancer, baleno. the lancer might have been around for quite some time, but from no angle does it look dated. a good machine worth the cash - if only you can go against the tide of bias and apprehension.

service network... hmm... takes guts to buy this car, when you come to think of that.

I was referring not to the cedia, but the diesel lancer. Does that change your opinion?

Lancer is for those with a LION's heart.
It is still an awesome car.

Dont want to sound like Aamir in DIL CHATHA HAI but...
You can't improve perfection ...and that's one of the reasons..the Lancer stays that way!!

If you love the car, Just go for it.

Arun

The Lancer is beyond its sell-by date. Also, HMs lack of initiative has led to a serious drop in overall quality. I would recommend the SX4 to you. If you can stretch your budget, even the Optra 1.6 is worth a look.

There is no reason why lancer cannot be bought when people are buying Logan today .Its is still one of the best looking cars ,but the point is why not lancer cedia it is a terrific buy at this price . The only problem is resale but then you re paying less for a car which is better than corolla and equal to civic
