Chevrolet Aveo 1.6 LT with Option Pack vs. Suzuki SX4 Vxi

Me and my friend are taking a car together and almost zeroed in on a SX4 Vxi. But I test drove a Chevrolet Aveo 1.6 LT yesterday and can't really complain much about it.

Aveo 1.6 LT with option pack is a touch more expensive than SX4 but the dealer has promised a lot of aggressive discounts. So, both of them are going to end up costing more or less the same.

Feature wise, the Aveo can match the SX4 in all aspects. I am really in a jam and can't convince myself to choose one from these two.

Please help!

All other factors being equal, perhaps you should consider maintenance cost and cost of spares as well. This will anyway add to your total cost of ownership.

I think Aveo 1.6 LT with option pack is ahead of SX4 vxi. If these 2 are compared, then Aveo is the winner.

Hi vanandmsv

Also do consider the Aveo 1.4. Cheaper than the 1.6 it is definately a more VFM option. The idea being, if all your requiremsnts can be met for less why go for something expensive.

My advise would be to go for the option that suits your particular requirements more. vbmenu_register("postmenu_607609", true);

There are a lot of writeups on SX4 on TBHP and also a few on Aveo 1.6. I would suggest you go through these and make a decision. Unless you have done so and are still confused!!!

The Aveo 1.6 LT option pack is a good buy IMO. It's really loaded. Do take a look at the Fiesta before buying. It's the best car to drive among the three.

Aveo is much better in terms of fit & finish - In fact the LT Model looks very classy and upmarket. Specially the dash & Audio System and Electrically operated Mirrors.

Also the option pack gets you Airbags & ABS.

SX4 has the advantage of better GC and the MUL name. So resale will have a slightly upper hand. But Aveo is a very refined car, and nearly flawless. I think it will also have a better FE.

Here are the extra features -

Aveo 1.6 LT also available with Option Pack
ABS
Dual Front Airbags
Height adjustable front seatbelts
Leather wrapped steering wheel and gear knob
Rs 725,248 Lakhs (ex-showroom price - Delhi)

Difference of Rs 46,200 for the above mentioned features. I would say worth it !!

From their site. Aveo Cars India, Chevrolet Aveo Sedan, Sedan Cars India, Chevrolet Aveo Car

And of course the LT has a host of features !!

Thanks guys for the replies.

I really liked the Aveo 1.6 Optionpack when I test drove it - it has got better and more comfortable seating postion compared to a SX4 (in SX4 I get a feelig like am going to slide in to the dash all the time, its kind of tilted at some wierd angle)

And the one we are evaluating is the SX4 ZXi and not Vxi (sorry for the confusion).

My heart really goes for the Aveo 1.6 Optionpack but somehow I am not able to find that "one" convincing reason why I should choose this over an SX4.

Since the confusion is cleared now with the SX4 Zxi, then that IS the better option between the two. It'll score in resale as well.

WHat better reason are you looking for. Its your car man. Buy what You like. Period.

Just to add to the + of aveo from what i see.
1.Better Interiors
2.Better Exterior Looks
3.Better Quality Fit and Finish
4.Better Quality Spares hopefully since it is not fully localised
5.Better Ride COmfort
6.3yr, 1L km warranty that comes at no additional cost

The -ves would be
1.Ground clearence (just when compared to sx4)
2.Not so swift power delivery. Its not an enthusists car.
3.Not so high number of service centers. But what really is the point in having more number of service centers. Just ensure that the guy near you knows how to do his work without irritating you.

The only reason i did not choose the aveo when we went for the fusion was the gear issue. WIth that solved. I would surely recommend the Aveo over the SX4.

All the best.
