Budget upto 10 Lacks, what car to buy?

Good luck. I bought a skoda after reading all the scary stuff on this forum. How worse can it get? ;-) Black color rocks!

There are extremely valuable check lists on this forum:
>inspection checklist before a vehicle is alloted to you (dont buy a demo car)

The lowest I got on my 1.6 was 10 in city, with 100% Ac and bumper-to-bumper most of the times. It generally is 11 to 12 in city, with mix of AC.

I booked the 1.4.
I believe it gives around 14 kmpl, and the power seems to be adequate for city driving.

For some reason i have become mileage conscious, can someone please convince me about 1.6!! i absolutely love the 1.6, it's steering is much smoother than the 1.4, and god the power and handling is so amazing

The dealer told me that max mileage you get is 8 or 9 and ppl who bought a 1.6 are cribbing and also the resale value would be very low and advised me against it and told me to go for the 1.4 as you get around 14kmpl.
I am sooooo confused now

There seems to be a problem.
If my loan does not get approved by saturday, i will have to cancel my car booking , as i would have to pay 30K more.

I am working with the bank to get my loan approved by saturday.

Congrats on booking the 1.4. To be realistic, it gives only 1 to 1.5 kms more per litre in city driving, and about 3 kms more on the highway, compared to the 1.6. Your dealer has misguided you with low figures for the 1.6.....is he getting more commission on the 1.4?
I drive through Panjugutta everday (comparable to the busiest Bangalore roads) and have never got less than 10 with 100% AC.
Anyways, it is your call.

skoda fabia is not in your list. but i strongly suggest u go for it .
it comes in petrol n diesel. which give fantastic FE. a very nice roomy hatch. and the interior is the best put together so is the overall build quality. n looks good too. the equipment on offer is more than a match for the bigger size cars.
VFM well one to keep one for life.

Petrol is not available yet and the woefully underpowered diesel sounds like its lifted straight off a tata truck.

Also where do i find the VIN.(I know that it is engraved on a car.)
