Esteem VXI, April 2005 for 3.85L????

Hi Guys,

I came across a Maruti True Value selling Esteem VXI, April 2005 for 3.85L in Hyderabad.

I checked the vehicle, everything looked decent and in good shape.

TD was good, but found the gearbox a lil heavy.... and a bit jerky too...

Again I am looking for help from fellow BHPians....

Lets have a healthy discussion!
Thx
Rajat

Its way too much for a April, 2005 Esteem.

I sold my October, 2005 Esteem in November,07 for 3.90L but then my car had done just 4.3k kms.
It had Alloy Wheels, Michelin XM1 Tires, V-Kool Tints, A JBLfyed system, Stanley Leather Seats, Xenos Remote Locking System and Philips HID Xenons. And to top it all, the car was in scrathcless condition. I know i got a great price for my car since the market value that at time was no more than 3.3L, but then the buyer was just floored by the condition of the car and the accessories which it came with therefore he bought it at that price.

Secondly, you can opt for a brand new Esteem for 5L on road in Mumbai after taking the huge discounts (which are going one for the Esteem) into consideration, dunno abt ur place though!.

I'd say the car you looking at is over-priced and not worth it at all since a new one can be urs for like approx 1.2L more. You can also get the LXI for like 4.7L on road.

Cheers

True value usually prices the car at around 20% premium. Esteem being a discontinued car this price is definitely on the higher side. You have not given the kilometeres the car has done. Normally the price of 3 - 3.25 L should be fine if you are buying from True Value. Many other details are required like Music system, alloy wheels, other accessories to price the car precicely.

double whammy here - true value dealer + hyderabad !
i was reading another thread where people were discussing how inflated HYDERABAD used car prices are and why it is so...

rajat - since are u specific about buying an ESTEEM ? if not, u cud spell out ur requirements and we can discuss the various options available..

but if u have decided on going for an ESTEEM, then

i think u should look out for more options than this piece bcos its clearly over priced.

When they stopped production band new VXi went for 4.75lac OTR or so, LXi for 4.25L OTR without bargain.

Why not a used swift vxi .You could get one for the price of a new swift lxi.you get more features-RPM meter is the best of them along with the power windows-All four.
Esteem is faced out so i sugest the swift.

Esteem being phased out you should pick up even 2006 or early 2007 models at that price from the market.

if you want a sexy car in that budget and save money why not look at a used accent petrol/crdi, i find many being sold off these days with as low mileage as 20k-25k so should be a good buy checkout the sunday edition of deccan chronicle in hyderabad there are many cars that are there in it! and its in your budget too!

You can also check out carwale.com, as you would be able to find some good vehicles up for sale. At the very least you may get the pricing indicators as per the site. You can then judge how inflated the asking prices are, and decide if you really want to pay that premium.

2005 Esteem LXi was listed at 2.25L in last week's Hindu classifieds. I dont know anything more about that car. Still 3.85L is wayyy too steep. Looks like True Cheats are out to con someone yet again.

Don't be afraid of buying vehicles from other states. There is nothing wrong in it. Do the temporary registration (cost Rs 500). drive the vehicle in your state and register within 30-45 days( not sure of period, more like 45 I think). Be ready to wait though. If you have so many days without a car, you can manage some more time also. Think of the maney you are going to save.

These are Pondy prices as per Maruti website. You save around rs 5000. On road should cost you around 4.4 in Hyderabad. An Esteem at 3.85 is a bad idea.

Hey Rajat,
As already pointed out by everyone the deal you have mentioned is ridiculous. Dont go for it under any circumstance. In pune, I am struggling to sell my Dec, 2004 Esteem fully loaded for anything above 3.25 lacs, and I feel that would be a good price.
To be honest, if you want to buy an esteem, this is the best time to buy. As the news in the market of production being discontinued and dealers selling the stocks at lower price, in short term, the prices of used esteem will take a hit. But IMHO, these will go up soon (definitely if the new esteem is indeed a Swift Sedan).

Hey guys,

Thanks for all your responses!

I have dropped the idea of esteem and am sticking to Swift Option

Booked an LXI (within my budget limits) but i wanted VXi so badly

Still wondering, should i indeed move to VXi??? Suggestions?

Thanks
Rajat
