Good option ,GTO.A used cedia or RS should come at the price of an SX4 vxi.You should be prepared for the maintenance cost too in that case.If that is not an issue go for the used cedia or RS.

Well for 7 Lacs , try a used Corolla or Civic or else if you want to buy a new one , Why Not DZIRE . Its new also (Exclusitivity Feeling )

As your running is not that much go in for Vxi and Put in the alloys etc and You'll have a ride which you can boast about. What say?

At driving of less than 10 kms per day and budget of 7 lakhs, you can go for any of the used cars.

However, a used car is used and you can still get a lot of new options at that price- Accent (proven but low FE), Logan (looks? but seems to be utilitarian).

Used: if I had to buy used at 7, I would only consider (1) Innova (2) Corolla or Civic (no choices in this option) (3) City CVT. Civic may not be available at that price because it is only 2 years old and you may not get anything at even 8-9 lakhs.

At 7, you can even get a new City. It is not good looking but still sells well and of course has the highest FE in petrol. Perhaps in new, it would be my first and only choice.

DZIRE: perhaps not now IMHO because it is new and nearly all models have kinks initially.

Corolla would be a good choice if you want used. Also, some 2004 Accord's are also beginning to go around 7-8 in Delhi so you might wanna chck the market for them too as the prices are bound to fall with next month's new Accord launch.

As for new Fiesta/Verna etc. are all contenders. Drive them see what you like.

I strongly agree. The Fiesta 1.6 simply rocks.

Fiesta 1.6 or Honda City should be the safest bets for you.

DeZire I am not sure if the looks can be digested, otherwise it will be a good car hopefully.

s

first of all let me thanks to all my freinds who forgot if they are giving there advice of buying the car for themself.... god help them simply going offtrack ......

requirment
1) budget 7 lacks . so many options are there
2)daily runnning very low : simply go for looks and performance as fe is not an issue.
3) already have an ikon(peppy engine): better engine than ikon may be fiesta or verna.
4)So ive decided to go in for a new car. so please stop fighting on preowned cars.
5) consider gear shift of ikon i would suggest really practical car with low maintance is verna and u have afforded ford maintance so u can go fiesta ....
so i would say get zero on fiesta ...

A used Corolla / Civic / Octavia at 7Lacs would not be in too good a condition.

Any Skoda - high maintenance costs.

I would say Cedia is the best bet. At 7 Lacs you will get a good car. even for 6.5L you should get good deals.

This might help

@danlalan : As narayan said be more explanatory in what you expect from the 7L rupees worth car. If I were you considering the distance I travel I would opt for a spacious car with good looks.
My suggestions :
I will change the alloys when I buy any car
New : Fiesta 1.6, City
Pre owned : Cedia, Elantra (if you like the looks), well maintained Vectra (just for doing that 6 Kms a day)

At just 5 lakhs, what sedan options do you realistically have, Dan?
I guess the only available options arent really going to find favour with you. I believe the Accent, Ikon Flair, and DeZire are the only options, not to forget the Logan. Even here, you just may need to up the budget for a 3 box. Unless ofcourse you want to consider the Indigo CS.

Is the requirement still valid for a sedan, or hatches also being considered now?

P.S. : I was right about you not wanting to let go of your beloved Ikon 1.6.

At 5 lacs , there aren't a lot of choices currently.
Go for the Logan if you want space and don't mind the looks.
The Ikon Flair will also be a good choice if you don't mind having 2 Ikons .

At 5 Lacs you hardly have good options for a sedan. Its better if you stretch your budget a bit . AT your price you can get a Indigo CS , Dzire Lxi , Another Ikon ( 1.3 Flair) . Seriously try stretching your budget a bit and atleast try for the Fiesta 1.4 Petrol.

Well if you are planning to keep the ikon and stick to a budget of 5L i suggest you look for a hatch. At that price i think its best to get a top variant hatch than a sedan.

OH yeah - the Elantra. I saw some good deals at 6 -6.5 for good condition Elantras. The CRDi version is a gem and is worth 6-6.5L if in good condition.
