the dust is finally settling. Thanks drifter.Ya speedsatya, you do have a point. The thing being hyundai has offered a good deal on the Elantra base model. And the chevy Optra 1.8(base) costs something like a 40 k more ex-showroom here in cok. Thanks Speedsatya for your input.See you all around. Will be back after some solid development.Happy Vrooming y'all.Ciao.

hey kookie ,

the elantra is a good car and is more roomier ...but then again the rear seats of hyundai cars are generally very low...creating a problem during getting in and out of the car. and if its your dad who is occupying the back seat - the optra 1.6 it has to be!

anyways happy hunting ..and do let us know what u go for finally !

cheers

had an oppurtunity to sit in an Optra yesterday (uncle's)... and tell you what, the ambience it creates inside is just awesome. All is quite inside, and the interiors are very stylish or Royal i should say. The back seat is wider and more supportive than that of Octavia. You blow that big horn, and you dont hear a whisper (opposite to Baleno.. where horn intrudes inside).. a very comfortable vehicle i would say for ppl sitting at the back.

In a nut shell, with your priorities in order,I'd say go for the Optra 1.6 or the Elantra GT/GLS.The driver won't have as much fun as,say a Baleno, but then the owner would be having a ball in the back.Pick your steed.

Since looks are not as important then go for a baleno but i feel its a bit short on head room.
If you are willing to compromise on performance a bit then go for an optra 1.6.
Its faster then the NHC, Accent and other cars.
Even the ikon is a good bet.
The rear seat is just awesome but ride quality is not the best around.
Here is my final line up -
Baleno
Optra
Ikon

If back seat comfort matters then the Optra by the sheer amount of legroom available beats the others , also the extra width of the car is nice , sure the seats are quite low but even then , I've found the Optra's back seats the best to be compared to the other cars - then the NHC.
(I guess what applies to the Optra also applies to the Elantra)
