If you really want the performance etc, go for it. Check that the clutch and timing belt have been changed. Just remember it will be a difficult can to sell on later

I stayed away from buying it because of estimate of repairs I had to incurr after buying it, also my Accent is going strong post 60k km run so dropped the idea.

And of course I was going to advise to keep in mind the A.S.S. that you would for any vehicle from Scoda/VW stable. The thread by harishv here is really an eye-opener!

I accept the above statement, even i had the confusion about the buy, did a lot of background check with my friend for the service history, it was just serviced 2K KM's ago from the KM's i purchased. It had 4 brand new tires, insurance renewed for next 1year and spare tire unused. Was not able to resist so went ahead with the deal. Now am enjoying the 150horses

Re: To buy or not to buy - Octavia 1.8 Turbo Rider

Since we are on the topic, how much would a 2006, 90K driven Octavia rider fetch(assuming it's in very good condition)?

I just saw a post in my office with the owner quoting 5.2L odd, and this post makes me believe that's a very unrealistic amount

Very unrealistic, I know a very good RS with 4k of the same age go for Rs 6L, late last year.

4L for a Diesel Octavia, even lesser for a Petrol. Rider is also the base spec. You can get a 2006 Laura L&K of lesser kms for about 6-6.5L

Petrol or diesel? Its overpriced whatever engine it is.

If its a petrol, i would say skip it and look for an RS. There are plenty of good examples around.

I got a 15k run RS, single owner, in mint condition, for slightly less than the price which you quoted, last year!

if its petrol based on the deal i did, its good if you get around 3.5,
yes when u get a RS go for it but am sure its rare to come across and you need to pay more for the same. i went for the rider petrol is just because it had the same heart of the RS but with lesser price tag and i can also spent the extra buck on something else for the car IMO

Apologies for having missed mentioning, it is a TDI. Actually the timing of that post and me checking this thread coincided so I was just curious.

No intentions of buying a 90K driven Skoda, the thought itself gives me shivers

Re: To buy or not to buy - Octavia 1.8 Turbo Rider

Hi,

I am about to buy a Rider 1.8 Turbo. My brother has checked the car and most probably deal would be close by tomorrow or the day after.

Please tell me what all Rider Turbo Petrol came with. ABS? Airbags? Both sides or only driver side? Climate control? Height adjustable seats?

Thanks
