I don't think he'd want to spend 8 lakhs on an Esteem...

its not about spending 8 lakhs on an esteem.he has to get some thing within 8 lakhs.its just the esteem body with the baleno engine.and if the right mods are carried out it will be fast.and way under 8 lakhs.

now how about gettin a zen and the 450 bhp suzuki twin cam engine that shreyas had spoken about ages back.

1.5 lakhs for a well maintained shell plus another 4 lakhs for the engine and say another 50 k for brakes, suspension and the sorts .. . . .
wonder what the quarter mile would be clocked in. .

manson.

well that sounds really unlikely to have a 450 bhp twin cam engine in a zen,one thing is will the chassi hold that much of power not to mention the car itself..
on a more likely note u can pick a zen and get the stock engine to pump out atleast 100 bhp (MPFI that is) with all the works..or plonk in a baleno engine and do all the works and u can have easily a 120-130 bhp car in hand..not to mention the enormous bhp/tonne this car will have..
PS : such a car will be real fun to drive around (obviously detuned to a lesser extent for road use and blow it out totally for the drags)..

450bhp in a Zen and how on earth will you control traction???

Mclaren's ideas are much more palatable. He's just missing one thing. TURBO!

Someone I know is planning something similar.

Get a used 2.0 Ltr Skoda Petrol should be around 7.0L add a turbo kit with intercooler and get ecm tuned to stage 2 through Petes , this setup will pump around 250 - 300 bhp depending upon the boost.

errr.. . . if i had a clue on that i would have been a tuner by now. i'm sure a certain mod can enlighten us about the same.

manson.

p.s. tried searching for the same but wasn't of any use, can some mod post the link to the thread where it was mentioned?

Hmmm...Unless you can use a slipper/centrifugal clutch, or add TCS/Launch control, or be a BRILLIANT driver, anything over 150bhp in a Zen will have you spinning in 1st and 2nd madly.

Domnic, please help!!!

Hey bro,
i would advise you to go in for a Mondeo.
It can be modified like all the other cars but it is undoubtly more safer.
There is no reason risking your life with an esteem/baleno when you can afford the Mondeo.
Also it's high speed stability is better then the Octavia's and Accords and sonatas.

just to let you know. you can have a used lancer beefed up with an Evo engine under 8(maybe 8.5) and it will sock up all the accords and mondeos and RS's.
