Confused - Laura Elegance 2.0 MT or Corolla Altis Diesel HG

I can vouch for the fact that Altis diesel suffers from massive turbo lag.
A relative of mine has it and he's pretty pissed off with this.

Had been to Vinayak Skoda showroom on Bellary road a week ago.
Laura manual comes with the 140BHP version engine.
There's no 110 bhp engine available.

Since driving pleasure is a priority, go for the Laura.

Sorry, but this is wrong information (unless they have made changes in their line-up without any public announcement). The diesel MT is with 110bhp.

Yes - indeed correct. Laura MT comes with 110 bhp engine & 140 Bhp belongs to Laura Automatic version which is the same even in Superb. Likewise - the Laura Petrol MT comes with a 160 Bhp engine.

Any tricks to negotiate further with these dealer folks both on delivery & as well discounts/ accessories? They have lot up their sleeve. Tough negotiation brought the discount from 60K to 85K....I have been asking 1 Lac....not sure whether I am greedy.

Congrats on the decision. The Laura is one car you ll never regret buying. Which dealer have you chosen and what is the cost breakup and the delivery date?

Do start a detailed ownership review once you have the car with you.

Not really. You're just smart! And since you needed a car right now, tis is the right decision. It is so much better than Corolla D-4D. Just like CIVIC is so much better than Corolla VVT-i. Frankly speaking, I dunno why Corolla sells so much (I mean, I do know. But wonder why is it so:( )

If you can't wait 2Q then though you have indicated an aversion to AT still feel compared to the Laura 2.0 MT, the AT will give you a lot lot more pleasure due to

1) 140 BHP vs 110 BHP
2) Higher top speed and faster 0-100 times in AT in case of Laura
3) S mode (Sport - holds revs longer in each gear giving a sport car like feel.)
4) Option of Manual shifting as it is a tiptronic AT.

Take a test drive in an AT in S Mode and you will have a smile fixed to your face - just like in the TATA Vista 90 Advt.

Finally I've gone ahead with TAFE & got 95K discount. Though they say they will get the vehicle this month itself - I am not optimistic...guess only next month.

Will update once I have the car & post a review! Thanks everyone for the suggestion.

Firstly congrats on your new ride.One question though,why din't you ask for discount on the ex-showroom cost (or is it not possible),it would have brought down your insurance aswell as tax component.
