"this bike has the power of 4 horses. My bike has only 1 horsepower, but this one has 4!" The pillion listens attentively and agree's with the old man.

something similar happened to me.Once a toyota prado came nearby my house i went to have a glimpse then i spotted the owner and i asked him how much power does dis suv have he said 2600. Then i asked him again n told him engine cc nahi power. Then he told me that he dosent know . I also asked him that if the car is imported? he said no the toyota guys have imported it

Somewhere along the way it came to light that the size of the cylinder, bore and strike which determined the output of power had a volumetric capacity of a hundred cubic centimeters or 100 cc as it is commonly called to put out 1 horse power. So logically one hp equalled 100 cc. This formula served the industry and the motorist well.

So yes, but that yardstick Rtech's bike is rated at 4hp and the Maruti 800 is 8hp.

Never knew this Steeroid. Thanks for the link.

Agree with steeriod... In the earlier days even my father used to mention this to me... 100 cc developed about 1hp power... so 600 cc wud mean it wud develop 6 hp power... This happened when i said i wanna buy a yahama 600 he said oh u want a 6 hp bike... it was a old generation terminology and lookin at the guys age i dont think it was wrong ... people here make comments without being aware of the fact where it came from and who is saying it...
Please ppl respect the past.. Just becoz new age engine churn out immense power doesnt mean that in old days it wud...
Cheers

Another one: me waiting at a signal in Gurgaon near one of those newly built malls. a guy in a scooter pulls aside with his dad as a pillion. pointing to one of the malls he explains to his old dad:

"yahan multiple shopping hota hai".

Hey Steeroid,

Thanks for the link.
My Grandad uses the same logic for his BHP calculations, so i knew there was some logic behind it since he knows his stuff, atleast for his time.
Glad to see the explaination.

Well look on the bright side, this BHP method is much more accurate than the BHP calculating method most indian tuners use
