Eyes, eyes baby!

A lighthearted take on the importance of good eyesight - that can supposedly be had with the help of the advertiser.

This Sensodyne ad

For some reason, the background music seems very typical of an iPhone ad to me.

Re: The best car ads

I had been watching the latest cars24 ad campaign with some amount of disgust. It involves two ladies talking about Cars24 and then refers to a potential Husbands24, in similar lines, where they can trade husbands.

They think their ads are funny, but its not. The ladies in the ad are loud and boorish. If it was two men who had been talking about a certain wifes24 in similar lines, the whole country would have erupted.

I don't know what the ad makers were thinking, but the line towed by them in the ads could alienate the very section of people who make most of the car buying decisions.

Anyway good luck to cars24 and the ad makers. Both, I hope, would go down the drain.

Not gonna argue about what is right or wrong. But back in time (about 10-15 years) when there was no social media, everything seemed to be fine. Such ads would have caused only some problem reported by only few on some newspaper.

But now everything seems offensive to everyone. In some cases it downright offensive but in some our level of tolerance seems to have become very low that everything seems bad to us.

Most of the stand-up comedians and a LOT of adult humour is just NOT OK if we keep taking offence. We would be having child-level humor everywhere.
A lot of cartoon network shows got trimmed. The colored housemaid in Tom and Jerry, the red indian dressed jerry, the pipe of Popeye, the fear of Courage the cowardly dog, etc.

I am pretty sure that barring a few percentage of people, others usually and freely use black, racist, sexist, etc. humor between themselves. A dark skinned person gets trolled and that person trolls back the fair skin person with same intensity and both laugh and all seems well.

Now when you put such things out on the social media or a public advertisement, than everyone's eyebrows get raised! That's a different story.

There were people who were offended on Cred for downgrading the big and famous personalities in their ads. Nothing is funny for them.

Point is, what is offensive to you and me may not be for others. Ads which are truly and deeply offensive should not exist. Remember Tata yellow pages and lot of other offensive ads from the 90's?

I think we should then only have ads like how the Cred guys says "Let's just have a simple voiceover like download Cred".

Such ads, or for that matter any ad, however offensive, should be protected by the right to freedom of expression.

But if these companies and their ad makers, do not understand their target clientele, then they don't deserve to be in business.

Add to that the ad companies who butcher regional languages. I suppose it happens to other languages as well, the ads that are originally made in Hindi get translated to Malayalam by the biggest idiot in town. Even google translate would do a better job. I sometimes wonder why the pro-local-language mafia who are busy fighting English and Hindi invasion keep mum when someone blatantly vilifies their language on a daily basis.

I now remember this Ad with fond memories. When I saw it, I wanted to marry the girl in the ad. That was before the girl sitting next to me reminded me I was already married. Which reminds me why I didn't remember this ad...
