Logged into today after a long time and did a search to see the new travelogues written by Sam. I was shocked to see this thread and just cannot recover. When I saw the thread thought it was some kind if joke, but the sad smiley conveyed otherwise.

Bye bye Sam - the man who has made us laugh so much and opened up his hearts for all of us to see.. A teacher in varied aspects... Though I have not met you it feels like I have known you always. Feels though a part of me is gone, am just shattered. Life is so cruel.

My heartfelt condolences to you Jenny.

Today is ten years of Sam's passing.

I saw a star in the early morning sky
It shone so bright, I thought the sun had died
I heard a laugh, and it sounded just like you

I can't think of anyone else that I met exclusively online, yet became a part of my day to day life - like someone from the inner circle, someone quite close.

Be it YetiBlogs®, YetiGuides®, English, ICE, heck - even the review of his car that came with an umbrella, all of them had this amazing narrative that you're sucked into, like you're a part of the story. There has never been a dull moment in the YetiWorld®.

It's like your close friend narrating how he met his life partner, TheOne®, how they travelled together, how he picked up the Land Rover Discovery, how Akbar kept fixing it... I can go on. Everytime I drive over cement roads, I remember Sam. I think of how the Land Rover came into his life as a gift. And he'd even gotten new Geolanders. Was it a defective tire? What was it that took him away? Everyone who's been with me on any cemented roads know Sam, and some have read through his blogs and posts here after I introduced them to my-friend-that-I-never-met, Sam.

I hope Jenny, his dad, his bro who's the DJ in Pune and his kids - everyone we've come to know through the words of Sam are doing good.

He's someone that I thought I'd meet somewhere down the line, but took off on a solo journey that I can't catch up with. At least not yet.
