That patch is awsome . The USAF has a LOT of crazy patches, many of them dedicated to covert and "Black" missions.

Re: Aero India 2013 - Pictures

Heard that the C-17 Globemaster was one of the stars of the event. But except a partial shot in post #19, there are no snaps of it in the thread. Does anyone have better snaps of the C17? The aviation minister did got a tour of it from the inside. Saw a couple of snaps in the media. Did anybody else got lucky and managed to get inside?

Indeed it was! I've not downloaded the pictures off my three cameras yet and yes, I gots the Globemaster the most shocking part was the landing - when it had its wheels down, it had already crossed 10% of the runway and I was like no way it's gonna stop before the runway gets over!! But it did! From touch down to complete stop, the C-17 used only 300mts!!

I know in know.. I'll post the video for you guys to see it for yourself!

He said there is only one queue and it is very lengthy and the person at the counter needs to enter all the details in the computer and the process is taking about 20 minutes per customer. I suggest going to the bank early would be a better idea or may be trying a different bank as posted by mpksuhas and also to take print out of the ticket if registered on the aeroindia site. Things are the same even at the venue, people are still not sure at which gate tickets are available and where to park. I am posting a list of what to expect and what not to based on the various blogs I visited, please add to it if I have missed anything.

.
Just back from the Aero India Air Display on Saturday.
Have to admit it was a total lack lustre experience.

Right from the confusion with the Registration ID and online payment and getting the tickets
Earlier this week, had stood in the Axis bank counter for 1 hour in the hot sun only to be told that you have to register and pay online and then collect the tickets at Axis after showing valid ID.
Then they mention come on Friday at 9:30 AM after registering.

Next day at Axis bank, they have stopped issuing tickets without notice. Really dis-organized, I wonder how they would treat account holders.
Then its a long drive to Yelahanka Gate 5 and more than a KM walk from the parking lot to collect the ticket. Finally got the tickets after so much struggle and then thought atleast it is worth the effort.

Today, at the venue, of course, the crowd management, parking was done well, have to give them credit.
But the air-show itself was boring, I felt it was much toned down compared to previous air shows. May be cost cutting or dis-interest to show as the Rafale fighter jet deal has already been done.
Just the LCH, One Hercules transport plane flying around, One Dassault Rafale Fighter jet showing its speed and agility and nimbleness(which was excellent) and then 4 brightly colored Sukhois flying slowly in boring formation, followed by the ALH hovering around in the hot sun. Commentry part was also missing.

Come lunch time and everybody was running to the stalls leaving the show and many people left quite early.
Maybe it wound have been better during the weekdays.
Rather than take all the trouble to get tickets and go inside, its best to watch the air show from the road or behind the facility.

Oops F16 was there . When some one claimed F-16 is taking off an air force official corrected him saying F-16 won't be flying. It's only for display. I am 0 when it comes to planes so I better believed what he said

I remember the F-16 now after seeing the splendid pictures by redrage, just came before the Russian Knights. It definitely flew the fastest of the lot.

Re: Aero India 2013 - Pictures

i still wished India could have picked up the F16's; then maybe could have graduated to picking up some F35s later.

Brilliant and stunning set of photographs. If anymore videos of those formations and aerobatics are there, then please do share. Thanks a lot for these pictures.

Re: Aero India 2013 - Pictures

I have a few modest shots in my google+ album. Since there was no commentary, I am not sure of all IDs. If you're positive on some identification, a comment in the photo will be much appreciated.
