Malaysian Airline gruha shanti ki pooja karlo, zaroorat hai ! unbelievable that such bad luck could happen to the same airline TWICE in such a short time. Reports say, it was shot down by some Ukranian rebels, a clear picture will appear once an investigation is done, I am sure the west is waiting to jump the gun and blame the Russians !

Plenty of SAMs can do that. Commercial airline don't fly particularly high for these things. They are not protected ie no defensive system, fly in a straight line are a large target etc. very easy target for something that is designed to shoot down military planes

Yes, I just read about the BUK System. Surprised to know its capabilities. Really sad and shameful of whoever caused this for affecting lives and property that was in no way related to them. May the souls RIP

What I don't understand, there have been incidents in this area for some time. At what point in time will airlines start to fly around these trouble spots. I'm not sure how that is regulated. Obviously nations can legally declare airspace closed, but how does this work internationally. Irrespective each airliner can choose to fly a different route. Would cost more and take longer obviously.

Such a sad incident. Really unfortunate that anyone can become so inhumane. Praying for the families of those on the doomed plane. Really really sad.

This is shocking news! I feel terribly sad for those poor folks on board. May their souls rest in peace.

The terrorists fighting the Ukrainian government aren't mere "terrorists" or "rebels" or "separatists". Many of them are full fledged Russian troops in disguise, armed with sophisticated weaponry (including tanks and anti-aircraft missiles), provided with up-to-date intelligence inputs by the Russian GRU and are virtually remote-controlled by Russia. Very much like the Pakistani regulars who fought in Kargil in the guise of "terrorists", only these Russkies are equipped with much deadlier weapons.

Of course, the mafiocratic Russian empire (and its self-declared "president-for-life", KGB-FSB agent Putin) would do everything to deny that its mercenaries fighting in Ukraine shot down the plane. No different than its predecessor, the commie Soviet empire shooting down the South Korean passenger plane and then denying having anything to do with it. The Russkies can never be trusted!

That can't be, but these can be and will be as lethal.

Russians have armed the Ukrainian rebels/militia who are predominantly Russian speaking populace. Their fate has caused the Crimean Crisis which is perhaps the last legacy of the WW II. Every-time Ukraine has attempted getting close to EU, Russia has resisted.

Russia tried Crimean annexation more than once since the end of Cold War but failed. Now armed with its gas dollars and relatively less military budget it has come back as a power in International Relations.

Malaysian was just plain unlucky to be shot down by those militia; it could have been any of the hundreds of flights that transit that region.
