As Ravi Shastri said yesterday, performance in some ordinary tri-series doesn't matter:D, what matters is how you perform in the World Cup.
I think the commentators got it spot on when they were discussing as to why India did miserably in the past 2 months & now suddenly are doing well.
Because they no longer have to face Australia every other day!:)

Ravi Shastri spoke straight from the heart and he left no stones unturned :D
He said that winning the "bloody triangular" was not a priority and blamed the team's packed itinerary for the bad performance and said the players were tired mentally.
In other news today, Zimbabwe were hit by 2 concurrent storms - a Gayle storm with top winds at 215kmph and a mini Sam storm at 133kmph :D
After a good batting display, almost doubling the score from 131-6 to 260 plus for the seventh wicket, now UAE seem to be on top with 2 Irishmen back in the pavilion. Are we heading towards an upset with a UAE win ? :D
Its the Indian bowling that is responsible for good or bad. These guys can bowl only 10 or 4 overs per innings with purpose and dedication.
Ranji semi final - Karnataka 202, Mumbai -44 all out :) 10 overs remaining in the day, has any match ended in a day?

UAE v/s Ireland - Ireland win but on a very tight and nervous finish.
Very well played UAE. A bit of experience lacking towards the end which I thought UAE should have taken it.

I doubt matches can end in a day. However I remember an India vs West Indies Test match in Madras in the mid-late 80s where India were bowled out on day 1 for 75 all out and West Indies were bowled out for like 128. However the 3rd innings didn't take place on day 1. Can't find a scorecard for this anywhere.
---
I hope Ireland hold their nerve and win a match or 2, they could very well play the quarterfinal.
Ireland won today after holding their nerves at the end stages :) But UAE played exceptionally well.

Are you sure it was a test played at Chennai ?
Maybe it is this one that was played at Delhi in 1987-88 ? - Link
here
Interesting thing is India were all out in 30.5 overs and West Indies all out in 47.1 overs so seems like they could have played few more overs if this was all on the same day (Day 1). However, in this test Windies were 118/8 on Day 1 close of play according to the statistics in the link I shared :Shockked:

NPV, The link is the match I was talking about. I was 3rd grade then, and this is one of the scores I remember from childhood.

Mumbai lasted 15 overs in 1st innings. While the lead is 444, some 17 overs left in the day. Will Mumbai repeat again?
So will South Africa win today or will it be a resurgent West Indian win ? :D

I think SA is wary of Gayle force, that's all. They would play with some degree of caution till 35 overs and then will go the whole hog. Expect a score of around 300. No one can predict what Gayle will do but I do not see WI winning this one.
But, hell, if he does go beserk, it will be worth watching.

Thats cannot be the case against South Africa who have some good quality bowlers. But then Gayle does have the capability to take down the best bowlers to cleaners on his day. The worrying fact is he is turning into an allrounder with picking up some wickets in the last match against Zimbabwe and today he has already picked up two prized SA wickets of Amla and Du Plessis. Broke the building partnership.
SA are already 3 wickets down with only 150 runs scored on board after 30 overs
With the xcoreboard reading 261/3 and a little under 10 overs left, one cannot rule out a 350+ score. And going by ABD's track-record, even 400 is possible! :D
312/4 in 45 overs now. :)
