I think that Australia will win the world cup, but I want South Africa to win the world cup.

I want India to win so I voted for that.

Haven't really been following cricket that closely so don't know who the favourites are but assume Australia at home would be the ones to beat!

Voted For India.
But I Seriously think that New-Zealand may make it big this time.
They have always managed to get into the Semis & Quarter-Finals.
I vouch for both SA & NZ

Wish it was the black caps, with their current (silent) form they are in + the home advantage.
If SA dont prove again that they are chokers, they too have a good chance.
Third would be Australia.

re: Cricket: The World Cup 2015 Thread

New Zealand is the team to watch out for. There were in semis 6 times so far and never went beyond that. This time they are in great form.

India's will beat all the minnows and maybe, WI and proceed to next round.
My prediction for the semis will be Auz, NZL, SA and ENG/India.

Wish India should win but chances are remote with the kind of form our players are in.

Top 3 teams as per latest ICC rankings are
1. Aus (120 pts)
2. India (114 pts)
3. S Africa (113 pts)

I voted for Australia, the team looks great with excellent batting line up.

India has very slight chance of winning, team looks really bad, and most of the guys are not in form as of now.

re: Cricket: The World Cup 2015 Thread

With the current form of team India and with the casual attitude the skipper has shown in the post match conferences i am indeed very sceptical of India making any impact on this world cup at all.
Leave aside the chances of winning it. I doubt if they will even make it to semis.
Can you imagine our skipper was complaining of the very long lay off away from home and fatigue factor etc.
Now how silly is that ? I mean how many matches did you play in those 2-3 months anyways ? he just played 2 test matches and 3 ODIs and complaining of fatigue? Aren't you as a professional supposed to take these tour duration in your stride and still be hungry enough to win?

I have voted for Australia but would want to see South Africa lift it this time (like Swapnil 4585 said)

re: Cricket: The World Cup 2015 Thread

I think in current form Australia are the forerunners, followed by South Africa.
Of course I would love for India to win it again, but it may just be a distant dream! How things can change in 4 years! Who would have thought we'd hit such bad form and more so in the run up to the big tournament.

I feel both SA and Aus has the same potential to get the glory. However, its about the "man-who-blinks-first" on the D-day and everyone in the world knows about SA's reputation in this aspect.

And mainly because of that aspect, I badly want SA to take home the cup this time and get rid of the 'C-' tag.

Cheers!

Certainly would want India to win but Australia & South Africa look favorites!

In the World Cup, its all about peaking at the right time.
I think we should keep our expectations low this year for Team India.

re: Cricket: The World Cup 2015 Thread

The patriot in me says India will win the world cup. However on current form i feel it will be extremely tough. The middle order looks extremely brittle and who will get us 10 wickets.

However i have voted for South Africa. If they don't win it with this team and on current form then they probably never will. They have the best batsman (ABD) and best fast bowler (Steyn) in their arsenal. Even the support cast is pretty top class (Amla and Morkel). Hence my money is firmly on them.

P.S. My biggest fear is losing to Pakistan. If that happens Dhoni's legacy will be forgotten and he will only be remembered for this. He might as well stay on in that Australian resort forever

re: Cricket: The World Cup 2015 Thread

I doubt we will make the semis. Aus/SA/NZ/Eng too strong.
In addition to the lack of adaptability of our batting, the spin all rounder that was key to our success last time has been nullified.

As per me the team rankings in each group will be :

Group A ::
1.SA
2.India
3.Pakistan
4.WI

Group B :
1.Aus
2.NZ
3.SL
4.England

After India, the team I would like to be the winners is Australia. Gosh - have been an Aussie fan especially the Steve Waugh era. Boy - what a bloke he was. And personally - I think the 1999 world cup was the best ever. Still see reruns of Steve Waugh's 90's and 2000's innings and those Aussie matches , thanks to youtube !!

Well, I think this actually may not be a bad thing! The law of averages is bound to catch up sometime with India regarding beating Pak in all world cup matches. Better to happen in the league stage , instead of a knockout game later on - assuming both these nations get that far !!
