Re: Cricket: The World Cup 2015 Thread

300 is a good score but felt we were 15-20 runs short. India will have to bowl badly to loose from here!
Thought our batsman played sensibly for most part & this Virat Kohli is a big match player.

Great death bowling by Pakistan. 330 would have been game over for them

After we lose 5 wickets there is no one reliable on ground. That is where we lose the plot. This has been experienced time and again.

Re: Cricket: The World Cup 2015 Thread

I think India paced the innings well for major part. Just that they lost plot during the last 5 overs.

One a lighter note, found this on Fb.

Ravi Shastri talking of this Indian team taking out Australia from the World Cup in the post match show. I guess he just needs to chill a bit!

How many of you saw Rameez Raja call Virat 'Man of the Player'

That was a dramatic turnaround IMHO. I saw it till SA lost the 4th wicket and then I changed the channel thinking that is the end, and today SA will lose, like India lost to Bangladesh.

But .. surprise!

and yes, good job by Indian bowlers. They kept Pakistan in check!

Re: Cricket: The World Cup 2015 Thread

Today's match proved that it's better to keep our expectations on the lower side - and we WON
History and the statistics were against a Pak victory today but you never know what can happen till the last ball is bowled or the last man is out.

In this edition of the world cup, the big 8 teams should make it to the quarter final stage but..the matches against the minnows are the most crucial as a loss/upset can change the equation.

The SA-Zim match was amazing. What hitting by Miller and Duminy. Even though it was a low key match - the batting was of the highest class. Confirms that SA along with Aus and NZ are favorites for this world cup. And Pakistan still plays the 90's cricket. Can't see them beyond the quarters stage.

After being 83 for 4, SA went on to get 339 without losing another wicket!

And so the first upset is here
Ireland played great cricket to beat the West Indies

India need to watch out for them.

Re: Cricket: The World Cup 2015 Thread

Brilliant performance by India. They were probably more disciplined and stuck to the task. Pak came back really well in the death overs after some really crazy hitting specially by Raina. Kohli did a great job, again. Happy to see Dhawan getting some runs.

MSD probably had one of his best games as a skipper, was ahead in the game all the time.

Ireland Vs WI : Not really an upset. WI are on their way down and Ireland on their way up. The ridiculous ease with what they won was something to note.

Australia look a class apart right now; they are the team to beat.

India's next game with SA should be a good pointer as to where we stand.

Re: Cricket: The World Cup 2015 Thread

I seriously hope the Indian team dont get complacent with the win over Pakistan and take into account the last match of SA where they had a world record for the 5th wicket patnership. The way David Miller batted the other day could give creeps to the Indian team. They need a good game plan and work around it to check the SA batsman and the bowlers.

Fingers crossed, Hope the Indian team breaks the jinx of losing to SA in world cup matches.

It's even stevens, like how Pak has lost to India in world cup matches (0-6 now), India has lost to SA (0-3 so far)
We have to play some disruptive cricket to beat them!

NOTE:Fingers crossed, Prayers on, Go India Go.
