What do you do?

Back in Blr and currently looking for new directions, job wise.

Travelled quite a bit, before starting work life and after that too. But mostly south of the Vindhya's. After a short stint in the gulf, and then a longer [but not long enough] stint in the US - both east coast and west coast.

IT pro - IT Infrastructure & networking. Completed my Electronics Engg in Blr in the early 90's.

> Wrote some MS / Novel / Cisco tests to get the certs and Job
> Actually started working with a small firm of 3 guys who were in assembling computers
> Later kept moving on from one company to another --- Presently working with an MNC in Bangalore - Trying to focus on learning C/C++ (at this age!!!!), Assembly, system Internals, Debugging codes - no luck yet, will keep trying untill I get there - thats the reason not getting time to go thru TBHP for a long time :(

Current Profession: Car Audio Distributor for Hifonics, Scosche eFx and Audiobahn in Bangalore.
Have major Expansion plans after another year and plan to diversify into Importing Car Parts other than Audio components.

Education : BCA from Christ College. ( I myself don't know what use it came to in what I currently do )

Presently Am a merchant Marine , A master Mariner.
Developing a passion for cars. Have plenty of time during my long vacations so always open for something new.

The job I do now is no where close to what I learnt then.Initially was always only stuck to C and C++,used to be my fav' dish on the menu.

Currently working on Enterprise technologies in a US based company.
Well to be precise am a Enterprise Solutions Consultant, work completely revolves around providing infrastructure solutions to Data Center hosting companies.

Joined L&T, Baroda as GET....left L&T in 2006......now in ALSTOM Delhi.....working as a Lead Engineer in Alstom, New Delhi.....

B.E. - Mechanical from UVCE , Blr + M.Tech from IISc , Blr specialising in industrial deisgn.. ( Planning to join IIT , Chennai for my Ph.D in Design soon .)

after a few years with some TOP design Mncs , now I run my own tiny firm in Blr , specialising in engineering design , validation ,analysis of industrial and automotive components , aggregates , sub assemblies etc..

Fool around with THe Stuff On My Left.. Talk To AVL To Get the design right.. Model it in CAd.. Get the components from suppliers.. Test it on Irate Customers.. (truckers are a quite bad breed).. Take it to ARAI for teh approval... Get it into production,.. and get blasted by the managers if it doesn't click in the market... Well i'm part of such a team.. Doing the above stuff for Engines..

Education : Diploma in Production Technology (SVCP, Pune) then BE in Industrial Engg. (VIT Pune, 2001), then MBA in Prodn. & Materials (IBMR, Pune).

Nowadays I am working as Warranty Analyst in Pune for Cummins Turbo Technologies (formerly Holset). Mostly working on databases.
I used to work with Tata Motors Car Plant earlier. So yes, automobile industry mostly....

Hmmm looks like no one is in the medical, dental or allied health fields. Im from the us...currently doing my mbbs at msrmc in bangalore. Planning on going back as soon as i get my degree. Hey i guess all the engineers get to have fun and the doctors have to work all the time hehe.

hey guyz, m a B Tech Computer Science & Engg n work for the company tht sayz "Computer is personal Again" as a Tech Architect n nowadays playin around with ipaq.

i agree completely with you azmat. most of the cars are on credit. my bro wanted to pick up a porche and had asked me to pick up his bmw but whn i saw instalments remaining i had to refuse it. Anywaz don't need a ride in nyc as public transport is too good.
