Hi,

I have been thinking of ordering some scale models from abroad.

However a fellow bhpian has just narrated an unfortunate incident involving the Indian customs officials.

Guys who have ordered from abroad, please do share your experiences as well, good or bad! It would help us decide if it is safe to order online.

Here is the terrible story.

"I have had a terrible experience and it is not because of Modelissimo. They are known to be the best in the diecast mail order business and I am sure they had sent me the models in a manner to uphold their reputation.
The parcel was opened by the customs here and I must say the people working in the dept. don't know the difference between handling cotton and diecast. Some 1:43 models were torn from their bases (I wonder if it was an attempt to pilfer them) and the undertrays of the cars being plastic, completely damaged beyond repair. The 1:18 cars have come without the side mirrors. I was lucky to find one side mirror in the box. Two cars are sitting without mirrors. One has a cracked windshield too. Some have badly scratched paint and broken wheels. It does not look like transit damage but definitely like manhandling because of fingerprints. Out of the 4 1:18 and 4 1:43 cars, absolutely none have survived the 3rd degree treatment sorted out by the customs. I don't know what they were searching for in the diecast but it has been a total loss for me and a friend. Modelissimo even puts in a complimentary sachet of sweets which obviously has gone missing.
I have never had such a terrible experience when I used to order from them while I was based in the UK, US and Canada."

My Design

Hi All,

I am Pradeep from Pune. I have designed a 1:8 scale model of the I-Robot bike built by OCC in Unigraphics Nx-4 3d cad software. I love this bike like crazy & if ever I earn the resourses, I will try to get the real bike

Ok...till then I will just manufacture this scale model in the near future. I will try to get it pressure die casted in a non-ferrous metal & get it chrome plated.
Does anyone have a cnc machine shop?
