A new one

HEre is a set from me. Mainly associated with parts / accessories / brands.

1. This company was founded in 1961, in a small mechanical garage located a few KMs from Bergamo, Milan, Italy. They started with some cusotm and aftermarket special product for cars like Alfa Romeo. Now is one of the world's bests in their product line which is used in cars and bikes both as OE and aftermarket.

2. This company was originaly started in 1930 in Kyushu, Japan. Apart from their most popular product, they manufactured bicycles and in 1960 a 50cc fan cooled single cylinder motorcycle too. But after seeing the unprofitable business, the stopped products like motorcycles. Their product is one of the leading brand and used as both OE and aftermarket in cars and bikes.

3. In 1899 this company was founded as a special factory for lanterns in Germany. In 1908 their brand name was created for acetylene lamps. Now they are world over with factories in many countries, latest is the one in Slovakia. A new factory is in conctruction stage at Romania.

5. Originally formed in 1948 in Japan under the name KATAOKA, manufacturing rotary switches. 1967 they clubbed with Motorola and got their new name.
In 1977 their product were used in Lambos as OEM entertainment. In 1981 they developed first navigation system with Honda. Today they are one of the pioneers in ICE.

Revvup, Bridgestone is the correct answer. Some version of history says, Bridgestone were becoming successful in motorcycle business and was ahead of other competiteors, while they threatened Bridgestone to stop producing motorcycles or else they will stop buying Bridgstone tyres.

Erm, no it wasn't. I'm pretty sure the Maruti 1000 was launched before the Zen, and so was the Standard 2000.

Yes, v1p3r is right it was the Maruti 1000 that had a five-gear transmission even before the ZEN.
Maruti 1000 tech specs http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/394157-post12.html

Although I am quite sure that the Standard 2000 did not have a 5-speed transmission and instead had a four-speed gearbox which was locally assembled in India.

So in all the probability the answer should be the Maruti 1000.

Ok, after all this here are some questions from my side

1.Which was first company to introduce a five -speed gearbox and when?

2.When was the V-8 engine introduced and by whom ?

3.Which company established the first car assembly plant in India and when ?

4. Which company was the OE supplier for the car stereos in the Mclaren F1 ?

You reopened an almost two month old thread, wonder why no one has replied to my quiz though, either the questions were too lame or too difficult .

2- First V8 - I think was 1900, used mainly on boats. Cant remember what it was called and who made it.

4- Mclaren F1 Stereo - Kenwood.

Dont know the other 2
