I think its fake because:

1. He is jumping from a shorter level to a higher level.

2. However, in the final picture, he is positioned as if he is falling "down" on the rock. Unless he was jumping from the taller rock to the smaller rock, that position is not possible.

I think its a fake. Cause the main reason being that he's jumping with one hand outstreched towards the rock and the other holding the camera(and even a tripod). Its not possible to jump bearing such weight in one hand and getting a good grip of a rock surface whilst wearing sandals!

I guess its fake..
another reason besides the ones mentioned above would be the colours..
the colour tones are different for each pic.. this shows that its definitaly been photoshopped...

Definitely a fake.. No photographer will ever risk even a bad path with camera attached to the tripod. And no.. you cant jump and hold on to a rock with one hand and weight in other.. unless you are spiderman with sticky hands

There is more than one person who got this guy in his act. Call me easy to be fooled, but the photographer did point out, the crazy chap was taking pics of the sunset, and returned after the sunset. A change in lighting is definitely possible after sunset.

Just saw this thread today.

Its not a fake, its most likely true. However people only showed the pictures of him jumping , not how deep the gap was.

Take a look at the last pic in this url, and you will see that even if he did fall nothing would have happened.

Nothing would have happened ? I wonder.

Hope you have been to the canyon. In all probability, that spot would have been off-limits for the public. The park authorities would have taken action on anyone who steps into prohibited areas.
