Re: Your Zombie Apocalypse Vehicle!

Has to be something like a Toyota Hilux pick up truck, indestructible in nature.
It's no wonder these are used in war torn regions which are nothing short of apocalyptic type places.

Come on dude - it's just harmless fun. What else do you expect an auto-enthusiast to think about when he's locked up?

My choice would be a Hilux with a bit of survival kit.

Just get off the rails and drive around them and get back on the rails on the other side. When you want to hop-off the rails, the little access-roads and dirt roads won't be clogged, since they weren't evacuation routes.
Clever thinking & Neat Idea.
However, you would run the risk of getting squashed by an unfriendly locomotive.

Re: Your Zombie Apocalypse Vehicle!

I will trust only a Toyota 4X4 for such a mission. As GTO told, reliable and it can go anywhere (most of the places)

How about this Mercedes 6X6. Saw this in classic remise Berlin and may also have featured in top gear Dubai episode where Hammond drives this.. It’s huge and can go anywhere..

Re: Your Zombie Apocalypse Vehicle!

Mine would be a RAM Rebel TRX, total badass. 3.0 EcoDiesel V6 good enough to get out of any situation, can tow more than 6 tons and decent fuel economy! Will also add an auxiliary fuel tank to extend the range.

Re: Your Zombie Apocalypse Vehicle!

In Indian context, I can think of the following vehicles
  • Top Choice - Fortuner
  • Close Runner-up - Tata Harrier / Hexa
  • Gurkha

My second vehicle of the house will be the Cockroach AKA Maruti 800 CARB.

Someone here said Tata LPK 2523 Tipper, if we are going that direction, I will pick the Caterpillar 797

Last edited by 2000rpm : 25th March 2020 at 10:09. Reason: Wanted to add the Cockroach!

Re: Your Zombie Apocalypse Vehicle!

Well, I think my Paj with suitable upgrades like a rooftop tent and a makeshift toilet and provision for supplies should be pretty much it. Also, maybe a powerful engine.

- Go anywhere
- Super Reliable
- Easy to repair.
- Can handle solid abuse.
- Comfortable for those long sleepless runs if needed.
- Great visibility all around (Watch out for Zombies )
- Tough body.

Re: Your Zombie Apocalypse Vehicle!

It has to be something from Oshkosh/ Tatra with their legendary 6*6 or 8*8 drives. Suitably modified to accommodate passengers and their supplies safely.

Like the TerraMax below -

Re: Your Zombie Apocalypse Vehicle!

Mine would be a Maruti Gypsy with the following mods -

1 - 4 inch lift kit
2 - All terrain tyres
3 - Snorkel
4 - Hard top at the back with provisions for sleeping
5 - Collision Protection
6 - A stupid bright LED bar
7 - A good stereo (To play some heavy metal while squashing them zombies)

Reason I chose the Gypsy -
1 - Excellent off-road abilities
2 - Narrow, and trail friendly weight
3 - Easy to fix
4 - Decent FE
