I haven’t had any fun road trips with the family but couple of Bangalore trips with my nephew for his UK student visa process. Due to the pandemic, these were scary road trips IMO. We have carried all the essentials and kept sanitising ourselves along with the car at every stop literally, thanks to the pandemic OCD. Completed both trips within 48 hours, thus no good photos to talk about. I don’t remember the exact place, en route to Bangalore.


After 8 years of togetherness and 45000 kms, we parted ways in December. I had to let it go due to lack of garage space, poor highway manners and constant attention that it requires. I would have kept it and rebuild to its glory if I have got more garage space. The thumping old King have got retired finally.


Now why there was a lack of garage space to begin with? Well, it’s because I have got a “Iratta Chankan” (it’s a phrase we use in Malayalam to address a powerful and daring man. Literally means a man with double heart.)

Now the trial runs are being under progress for the rumbling Young King.

During the first half, I thought this year is going to be the first in many years without a road trip (except the one done to temporarily shift my base from Bangalore to hometown). However, in the second half, was lucky enough to get a few under my belt.

Recently did a roadtrip to Rajasthan. Although, clicked multiple pics of the car, this one takes the cake.

Here are a couple of pics from my side. 2020 started on a bad note for me, with 3 ligaments partially torn in the right knee. Then the whole pandemic thing struck, and I also managed to tear the meniscus in the left knee during rehab. Fortunately right has improved leaps and bounds now, and is almost 99% back to normal. So driving has been on the back burner the entire year. However, have managed to drive around for short trips (before the left knee injury was diagnosed). Since I drive a manual, driving has been ruled out again for a month at least! So I hope 2021 brings back the joy of driving in all our lives. Wishing everyone a happy and healthy new year!
