The view from your balcony / terrace

Since we all are spending a lot of time sitting cooped up in our rooms, I thought I'd share a photo or two of what I saw from my balcony the other day. Let me give you a bit of a background as well...

It was 1:30 pm and I was about to wind up my morning calls and go for lunch, and that is when I started hearing the alarm calls from near the watchtower. These alarm calls are a very regular occurrence here, and I didn't give it much of a thought as I continued with what I was doing. Then all of a sudden the calls started picking up and soon reached a crescendo with multiple deer calling at the same time. Since it was coming from so close to the watchtower, I decided to take a look. I remember going to the balcony and looking into the meadows and I noticed that I couldn't see a single spotted deer. But something close to the watchtower caught my attention, it was the resident male Tiger "Bigfoot" with the kill - a spotted deer! Seeing a big male Tiger with a kill, that too from your balcony.. what an absolute privilege to be able to share the space with such magical creatures!

re: The view from your balcony / terrace

Is it the same Jungle Retreat in Wayanad? From the pictures it looks like it. My apologies if I am mistaken. If indeed it’s the one, then good to see you here. I have been to the place, we have bitter sweet memories from this place. Mostly sweet memories during the stay, but what happened after we reached back to BLR is where the bitterness lies.

During our stay, we heard several predator calls, we checked for signs of movement in the adjoining forest, to our dismay we could not find anything. The alarm calls carried on through out the night. There was definitely a movement of either Leopard or Tiger.

Lucky you to have such a place. It’s my dream to build something like this and getaway from city.Hopefully someday!

Wow. What a view overlooking the sea! Magnificent.
But I am tearing my hair on this - Bombay weather being somewhat like the proverbial English weather, how will the furniture in the foreground survive the rains ?

Re: The view from your balcony / terrace

A wonderful thread indeed . Spent almost a year and a half at home by now and every evening I still religiously sit in my balcony to enjoy the view out. Here are some pictures I collected over the years. Monsoon is delayed this year otherwise I would have shared newer pictures too.

Don't want to take the thread off-topic, so let's end it here please. Weather-proof furniture from Loom Crafts (strongly recommended brand) and thick covers when not in use. Got black covers made from a guy who makes car covers . The red cushions stay under the cover all year long, except for the monsoon when we move only the cushions inside:

Re: The view from your balcony / terrace

The one good thing that has come out of this pandemic is that people have started paying attention to small but significant things like "view from balcony".

Here is how the sky looks from our balcony.

Re: The view from your balcony / terrace

Superb idea for a thread.

As I type this is what I see from outside the balcony of my small farm. Bought this piece of land a couple of years back to grow my own food. I can say I am 80% there. How I wish I could add all the various sounds effects to the picture that are accompanying the rain fall.

PS: really bad at taking pics. Just not able to do justice to what I see.

View from the other house [inside town] is nothing great, will make it good and then share.
