Re: Your automotive resolutions & car plans for 2022

Resolution for 2022:

1. Farewell to my Polo TDI, the car is still going strong after clocking 1.6L+ KMs. That excitement is still there once I hold the steering.

2. Hopefully get some new wheels, Tiguan(only when atleast 4-5L discounts start) or TROC (If VW decides to get facelifted version using import quota) or even an A3 (If launched and gets discounts similar to A4 ).

Re: Your automotive resolutions & car plans for 2022

My Resolutions for 2022:
  1. Complete at least one single day 1000KMs drive. Been thinking of doing this for a long time now. Closest I have been, 690KMs in a day.
  2. A Family Road-trip outside India. Preferably SEAsia.
  3. Start with the long pending DIY's for Nexon
  4. Write my first Ownership review in Team-BHP

Re: Your automotive resolutions & car plans for 2022

My resolutions for '22:

- Drive More! My cars barely did 12,000 km between them in 2021.
- RoadTrips! Apart from one Goa trip last Christmas, its been a relatively dry run. I want to do a Gujarat roadtrip (Sardar Patel statue, Rann of Kutch etc.) and maybe even up to Rajasthan (Jodhpur, Jaisalmer) and a long-planned visit to Calcutta to drive a friend's vintage Austin. Fingers crossed!
- Use a Driver More- especially for Mumbai day runs which are getting much more pleasant from the back seat. I tried this a couple of times in '21 and found that I enjoyed it.
- No buying/selling cars this year- for a while I was tempted. In hindsight, am not going to get the kind of value that my 11-year old VW Vento provides, so will plan to hold on to her for another 2-3 years.

Re: Your automotive resolutions & car plans for 2022

Here are mine :

1. I will stop visiting olx for a pre-worshipped Linea Tjet, Duster AWD or Pajero Sport
2. Stick to my 2017 Baleno no matter what
3. Do longer road trips with family
3. No hasty decision of selling the 8 K km run Suzuki access 125 for the Yamaha Aerox

These sounds quite challenging. May the force be with me

Re: Your automotive resolutions & car plans for 2022

My only resolution for 2022 is:

Drive more.

My Nov 2019 Hyundai Venue has run only 3400km, so far!

Re: Your automotive resolutions & car plans for 2022

- More road trips in 2022 - did the last (long) one in 2020 when we went from Hyderabad to Kolkata in my 2014 Grand i10. 2021 had shorter trips of about 300 KMs

- Gather funds for replacing my Grand i10 with something more exciting and spacious (20L-30L range)

- Take care of my health and start being a little more physically active

- Start contributing to the TBHP forum instead of being just a leech

Quiet simple resolution, for a gulf mallu.

Find a preloved (so much loved) single owner LC/Prado, to buy, drive and keep in India

Re: Your automotive resolutions & car plans for 2022

My shortlist fir 2022:

1. More road trips - get out and drive on most of the plans over the last 18 months. Most let maintenance /replacements for the car is now done in 2021

2. Get my son ready for highway driving. Ek help with the first if there's 2 drivers instead of just me

3. Finalize and get done with the car buy in the first half. I can probably write a book with the amount of reading I've done on the various options, pros/cons. Obviously wife's not been a big fan as there's nothing to show (yet)

Re: Your automotive resolutions & car plans for 2022

Interesting read, I echo most of the views

Here’s mine

1. Drive more - missing those long highway trips
2. Cycle more - doubles up as fitness resolution
3. Be content with my cars
4. Motorcycling - EV or scooter or a retro bike, hope I find an answer in 2022

Re: Your automotive resolutions & car plans for 2022

The year is 2022. Number of unfinished automotive resolutions from 2021 ? 2. To-Do list this year 3.

Pending from 2021

1. Drive to Bangalore, visit all the places/restaurants I used to frequent while I was working there (if they exist) in my Rapid DSG.(I live in constant fear of abs sensor failures, but darr ke aage jeet hai)
2. Start looking out for replacement for my Polo. My boy turns 10 this year, but still drives like the day I got him. But intermittent part failures have me troubled. I've been very reluctant to let the Polo go, so I've no idea or sense what to replace it with.

2022 resolutions.

1. With my brother in Coimbatore, drives to meet him have increased. Fortuner has been my choice of wheels, but it needs a high beam upgrade. Thinking of HID's or LEDs. Not to blind anyone, but Kerala highways are just .
2. My commercial cargo Force vehicles have started showing their age. I did get 6-7 years out of them, but Mahindra's have showed me they can do better. Replace or repair ? The conflict continues.
3. Do a long road trip with my wife, preferably to the North west. I don't think me or her took a break (from work) at all last year. We deserve a vacay.

Hope to have a clean slate for 2023 !
Happy new year Bhpians. Live long and prosper !

Car --> Drive at least 10,000 kms this year + a North India tour
Bike --> Replace RE Thunderbird 500 with TVS Zeppelin (eagerly waiting)

Lets hope there are no COVID restrictions / lockdowns.

Cheers !!
