You didn't know about literally, the funniest show on earth? I even remember the both of us having a debate when I mentioned that Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm along with Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia being in a league of their own, while stuff like Friends and Big Bang are not in the sense true comedies, you were defending the latter 2 furiously though:D

BTW Curb Your Enthusiasm featured in HBO upon debut in India, about 5 years after global debut (2005) if I remember, that was in the good old days when the local censor boards didn't go nuts with censoring foreign content. To me that is beyond any comedy made on earth times 100, it is the only show where the comedy quotient picks up by the season and hits a crescendo on season 8.. pure gold for first time watchers. Seasons 9 and 10 are hilarious but 8 was the goldmine.

Seinfeld was a cult classic. A classic show about “nothing”. The others I enjoyed watching around that time were Frazier, and Everybody loves Raymond, which was more family friendly.

But Seinfeld remains my favourite to this day. Haha, George’s dad LOL! Costanza!

I would still defend the first 5 seasons of Big Bang Theory, as the BEST comedy series, in terms of writing, in my book. But it does not undermine any other series. Seinfield, Friends, and few others are all good series. Also, I am too much into Star Wars, Star Trek, DC, Marvel and all, so I had an instant connection with TBBT.

Curb Your Enthusiasm is quite hilarious and unique in the way it is made. Larry David is just awesome ! Let's see if this pushes the envelope for me and breaks the TBBT benchmark. :D

Regarding debate, I don't think it must have been a 'furious' debate of any sort. :D If it was, then silly me. To each his own.

1/5.

I'm guessing you were expecting something else. It's entertaining, all the characters are for real and there's so many twists and turns it keeps you hooked. I liked it and so did a lot of my friends so it could also be an age thing. The main character has 2 husbands and is a gun trotting meth addict and there's another guy calling himself 'Bhagwan' who has a harem of 5 wives :uncontrol
I don't think the conservative or older crowd would find this as funny though.

Larry David is a comedian Chuck Lorre cant match by a billion miles, trust me that benchmark will be obliterated.

Its very clear Chuck Lorre always copied Larry's comedy techniques, even in his new show The Kominsky Method which is a poor copy of Curb and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Of course, I agree that BBT, Friends and Everybody Loves Raymond are more family friendly, politically correct, filled with romance and drama aside from 1 or 2 brief moments of comedy which works as a great recipe for high viewership.

Curb though, is an out and out comedy, politically incorrect and absolutely horrifying at times in terms of what Larry manages to pull off in this highly sensitive societylol:

Started on Panchayat.

What a nice, simple, feel good series. It has been a long long time since I watched such a series.

I finished "Unbelievable" on Netflix. I would rate it a decent one time watch = 3 stars. Someone who liked 13 Reasons Why might like this one more that I did.

I liked "Unbelievable" a lot. The acting was top notch and it being based on a true story made it all the more interesting. The first few episodes are a bit hard to watch but I felt it was one of the best shows of the year on Netflix. I understand it may not be to everyone's liking though.

Some quick reviews from my side -

Designated Survivor (netflix) - currently in middle of season 2. It is quite enjoyable though there are too much cinematic liberties and oversimplification of the problems. But once you get over that, it is quite engaging. Rating - 7/10

Special Ops (hotstar) - A solid, engaging desi series with great performance from KK and the villain. Looking forward to season 2. Rating - 8.5/10

Jamtara (primevideo)- A well-made series based on real life incidents. Rating - 8/10

Westworld (hotstar) - This is not for the faint-hearted but a very different one and nothing like I expected. Worked for me though.. Rating - 8/10

Mindhunter (netflix) - One of the best investigative series available on any platform. Very very classy and understated. Waiting for Season 3. Rating - 9/10

Succession (Hotstar) - One of the best ever TV series I have ever watched. Don't miss it. Rating - 10/10

Unbelievable (Netflix) - Decent watch, it was over-hyped by Netflix. Rating - 7/10

Unorthodox (Netflix) - A limited TV series. Very unusual story set in an ultra-othodox Jewish family/neighbourhood. Highly recommended - 8.5/10

Fauda (Netflix) - The first few episodes were amazing but started dragging towards the end of Season 1. Don't have interest to watch Season 2. Rating - 7/10

Big little lies (Hotstar) - Very good series with excellent performances by Meryl Steep and Nicole Kidman though Season 2 is not as good as Season 1. Highly recommended - 8.5/10

Little Fires everywhere (Hotstar) - All episodes are not available yet. Going good so far.. will comment once I finish the first season.

The OUtsider (Hotstar) - Watched this as it is written by Stepehen King. It was really good but the climax ruined it for me. Still, good watch for the horror/scary movie fans. - 7.5/10

That's it for now.. will post a few more shortly :D

Have all of these series reached a logical conclusion? I don't like waiting for new seasons.

Please do recommend series that have finished, since your tastes seem to match mine.

TIA!

^^
Yes, but I guess MIndhunter is currently a cliffhanger.

A couple of my favorites -
WOrld War II in HD color (Netflix) - I guess the best WWII documentary. Rating - 10/10

Chernobyl - Guess everyone has watched it. If not, do NOT miss - 10/10

Larry David is simply awesome. I love watching his interviews also. Very unique style.

Another show I loved was 'Trailer Park boys'. The initial seasons are excellent.
The movies that followed are a hit or miss.

I would recommend "Chuck" if you want to see some cheesy spy rom-com TV series. Comedy is ok and good time pass. If you are fan of Hannah from Dexter, then it is visual treat too :)

Wow! This thread is really pulling out some old old stuff!! Goes to show the lockdown is making us binge-run-out.
In search of medical based series, I had to go old school to watch scrubs on a pen drive. Couldn't find it streaming anywhere!

I hope everyone has seen the movie Contagion. It is very much relatable to our current situation. Ofcourse in that, a lot more people die ( in the millions ), seems our situation hasn't worsened that much yet, and I hope it doesn't.
