Re: Share your moment / memories of hitting the 100,000 km mark

This is an interesting topic. All cars that I have owned have achieved this milestone & I have been lucky to enjoy this feeling twice.

My first car was an Indica Xeta purchased in the year 2007 & I reached the milestone of 100000km in the year 2011 & 200000km in the year 2015. This journey had been a roller coaster ride for me because of the aftermarket CNG kit that I got installed. I still have this car in my garage because of the emotional attachment that I have with my first purchase.

In 2015 I bought my first SUV, TUV300. This was a gem of a car & never gave me any major problem except for the famous vacuum modulator issue. While selling this car in 2023 the odo was standing at 197000km. I never wanted to sell this SUV because of the strong work horse nature. It was a no-nonsense car & I could take it anywhere without having to think twice. Because of the weird NGT rule for diesel cars in NCR I had to sell it with a very heavy heart, as it was nearing the 10-year limit.
Felt extremely proud when the magical figure of 1L & 2L km was achieved.

Latest addition replacing my TUV is another beast from Mahindra stable, XUV700 & I again hope to achieve the magical 2L km figure with this beast.

Re: Share your moment / memories of hitting the 100,000 km mark

I hit 100K around the 10 year mark when my car was sort of in limp home mode and i was nursing it to a workshop with some overheating and leaking issues
more details here. I've owned the car from new, and its still with me after 15 years

Re: Share your moment / memories of hitting the 100,000 km mark

Hit the 100,000kms mark on my 2006 Swift on August 15,2023 while driving back from Mangalore after the Flag hoisting ceremony. I was driving and dad was more excited than me to see the odo hit the 6 digit figure. The honour was given to National Highway 66. Even though all the 100,000kms were not clocked by me (was 65000kms when I got it) , I got a wee bit emotional since this car is what made me learn on how to DIY, how engines work and diagnose issues. We even undertook a good 2000kms Trip with the Swift and she did not even break a sweat keeping up on the expressways, whilst still just Sipping on the fuel. Will be holding on to this lil gem for as long as possible.

Re: Share your moment / memories of hitting the 100,000 km mark

Our i10 completed 1 lakh kms 2 weeks ago and is completing 15 years in about 1 month, has been generally a reliable car that has not had a single break down, however, mechanical part quality has been sub par and has been quite expensive to maintain, following were replaced over the past 15 years

- Clutch pack was replaced twice
- AC condenser coil was replaced three times
- AC compressor replaced once at 90k
- Steering rack/column rattle has been present since 1K kms, entire rack assembly was replaced last year, steering column needs a replacement now
- Both front shock absorbers replaced twice
- Front brake disc calipers are due for replacement and parts are awaited
- All 4 doors replaced due to rusting even with covered parking, rusting had started from year 2 and the dealership painted one door free of cost, they had reported that there is rusting inside and painting will not help, but warranty replacement was not possible even though the issue was first reported within warranty period

The car itself is extremely city friendly and is very convenient to drive on narrow roads.

Re: Share your moment / memories of hitting the 100,000 km mark

My Aspire Tdci is currently at 142000km plus with no sounds other than the engine and the horn.Has be quite reliable till date and highly fuel efficient.Got her cataracts replaced with new LED bulbs at the 1 lakh mark along with some skin spa,new shoes, new knee joints-rear shocks , engine mounts replaced plus the known power window switch and the thermostat replacement etc.Needs the routine usual maintenance at very reasonable costs.
I am going to hold on to her for the next 7 years of registration, eagerly hoping no BS4 ban in Assam.
Ready for a long drive as long as belly is full with diesel.

Re: Share your moment / memories of hitting the 100,000 km mark

I actually sigh that I've to pony up the cash for the next car, though, I've hit that figure a couple of times, sold Maruti 800 at 100k kms, Santro at 140k kms, Swift dzire at 150k kms and currently own a Duster at 230k kms and a Creta at 167k kms now my sighing level has shifted from 100k kms to 200k kms

Re: Share your moment / memories of hitting the 100,000 km mark

I had the opportunity to clock 100000 kms in 3 of my vehicles..

1. Maruti Suzuki WagonR(VXI).
My first car which I bought in 2009 and sold in 2012. We were a family of three(me, wifey and daughter) and used the vehicle to the maximum. I was staying at Borivali due to my official obligation and made it as a habit to use it gor my yearly trip to Kerala. Had been a wonderful partner and I sold it with heavy heart in 2012 with 115000 kms ODO, as I was moving to Hong Kong.

2. Maruti Suzuki Swift ZXI
My second vehicle which I bought soon after I returned back to India in 2017. During the stay at HK, I never drove a car as the public transport system was top class. Moreover owning a personal vehicle was expensive too. The itch to drive was too much that I ended up making payment to buy the car as soon as I landed in India. On second day of landing in India, I had the vehicle with me. I used it till June 2020 and covered states of KL,TN,AP,MH and GA. I sold it in June 2020 with 120000 kms in ODO.

3. Hyundai Creta 2020 SX Petrol MT
I shifted to Creta from Swift in June 2020 while I was working at Chennai. The usage was for 2 years till June 2022(when I bought my Thar). The stay at Chennai ensured two drives every month to Trivandrum which contributed towards the ODO which stood at 140000 kms(in 2 years). It was the most enjoyable driving machines I owned till then.

So I had the opportunity to clock 3 vehicles to north of 100000 kms as explained above. Now holding a Thar and Hyundai Creta(2023 model). Thar is shy of 100000 kms by 1/4 th of it while October bought Creta already approaching 10000 kms.

Re: Share your moment / memories of hitting the 100,000 km mark

We bought the Baleno LXi in 2007 as a used car. It was just 1 year old and had just 10,000 KMs. It was as good as new. Got a great deal as we paid just ₹ 4.25L.
We had her with us till 2018 and in those 11 years she was always a true workhorse. In the reliability department, I remember calling her the Maruti's Corolla. Yes, it was that good, the good old Japanese engineering.
Till about first 5 years of her age, she ran on the perfect roads of Haryana and she was in a top notch condition. Then we moved to regions of UP where roads were nonexistent and we lived in rural areas. She endured the worst of roads. My father still recalls her emotionally and says had we not moved to UP back then, she would still be with us today.
She had around 1,20,000 KMs on the odo when we had to part ways.

Re: Share your moment / memories of hitting the 100,000 km mark

This is my Tata Safari Dicor 2010.

It is running low now, as I got a much more fuel efficient Ciaz. I have reserved it for outstation travel. Nothing beats the comfort and space of the Safari on long drives.

The image was taken on our New Year excursion to Pondicherry from Hyderabad last year.

Re: Share your moment / memories of hitting the 100,000 km mark

Two of my cars (here in Netherlands where I live) are in this league (sort of).

First one is my office lease Volvo V40 CC - This was pre covid time, office travel was intense and I did about 100k+ in 3 years. Amazing car, very difficult to find an equally good replacement.

My current car, pre owned Lexus NX300H just crossed 200k - but only 23k under my ownership. But still proud to have that sort of kilometers under the (car's) belt.

Re: Share your moment / memories of hitting the 100,000 km mark

I didn't hit 100k in any of my first 3 cars. A Maruti 1000, 800 or Esteem VXI. I hit the milestone in my 2006 Octavia and 2012 Laura when I wasn't noticing. So I do not have any pictures. I do remember getting in the car later and seeing the odometer at six digits (it's not something I constantly monitor while driving). Both of them were regular uneventful drives either to or from my hometown with my family.

I hit 100k in 2016 in the Octavia. But I drove her to 190k kms before it needed major engine work and I sold it off this year for a fair price for its condition. Still the best car that I've owned.

I hit 100k in the Laura this year. Now she is approaching 120k and has been mostly trouble-free except for the infamous F16 fuse problem and a little trouble with the ECU getting bricked.

And I hope to do the same with my D-Max as well and add it to this thread. Hopefully I will remember to take pictures.

Re: Share your moment / memories of hitting the 100,000 km mark

Being a civil servant, I have seldom got a brand new official vehicle. Most of the cars that I have got from the Govt are at least 5 years and >50,000 Kms used so the much spoken about 1L mark is a milestone that I have crossed in multiple vehicles from Marutis to Skodas.

Given the auto mobile enthusiast in me, I have managed to make good friends with the master mechanic at the State Govt garage and he told me a line that I will always remember “Saheb it is not the 1L Kms that age the car, it is the 80,000 kms before that”. A desi Jeremy Clarkson?

While 1L Kms is definitely a milestone, it is no different from the other milestones that we hit in the cars and that has truly changed my mindset. I recently had the choice of choosing in between a pre-owned Jetta that has done 40K Kms with no service record history and another Jetta that has done 80K with each and every service documented, chose the latter and couldn’t be happier!
