ChatGPT as your astrologer. Anyone?

I don’t believe in astrology. Let’s start there.

Not in the “this is all nonsense” way.

More in the “it’s interesting, but I’m not planning my Tuesday around Jupiter” kind of way."

But if you grew up in India, you can't just shake this karma stuff off your back. It’s baked into us.

From newspaper columns to weddings, it shows up everywhere.

And not to mention the family WhatsApp groups — and that one uncle who’s a tad too deep into Lal Kitab.

ChatGPT as your astrologer. Anyone?-1.jpg

So, last week, I did what any slightly curious person with too many AI subscriptions would do.

I asked ChatGPT.

re: ChatGPT as your astrologer. Anyone?

Usually, people write page-long prompts with personas and rules. I’m lazy. So, I go with simple questions. Vibe prompting, if you will.

“So, what do you think of astrology?”

I had to stop it mid-sentence a few times, nudge it here and there.
Until it said, “There used to be math behind it.”

So I pushed: If it’s math, then we can design it as an experiment. Right?

No motivational wallpaper quotes.
No safe, “you’re on a journey” stuff.
Let us just see what "maths" tells us.

It pulled:

→ Dasha periods
→ Life event timelines
→ Career, money, relationships
→ Best and worst times (month-wise)

For every vague line, I asked: “Okay, but what does that actually mean for me?”

I don’t want to bias anyone, so I am not going to share any results here.

I mostly asked about past events. And... it was fun.

And sometimes, kinda spooky.

Not “sell your house and follow the stars” spooky.
But enough to make me squint at the screen and wonder, “Hmm. That’s odd.”

I have saved the next 6 months for comparison in December once this has actually happened. I want to see how those predictions play out.

If you’re curious — and the kind of person who likes patterns, systems, or just a fresh perspective on your mess — try it.

Who knows — maybe you’ll find something spooky or maybe have some good fun over the weekend.

I am not sharing the exact prompts — everyone’s an expert these days, and you’ll find your path. But if you need help, please send a message.

A few pointers:
  • Don’t let it get away with vague words like “transformation” or “alignment.”
  • Push back. Ask what that looks like and what this means for XYZ
  • Force it to give monthly verdicts, specific time windows, and real-world consequences
  • Treat it like a weird operating manual — one you’re skeptical of but willing to test

In the end, let us say I’d probably do it again.

And remember, I don’t believe in astrology.

But, just in case Rahu is up to something.

Re: ChatGPT as your astrologer. Anyone?

At the age of 38, I think there's an astrology of some kind, but humans are not able to decode it correctly, or it's just that it's unknown to me.

Sometimes I see predictions going wrong, but sometimes they're glaringly (but indirectly) matching to the reality, so there's no fixed source of astrology.
But then there are few 'such' days:-> Just 2 days ago, I celebrated a national wrong-side driving day:- almost 4 parties were riding/driving on the wrong side of the road on my daily commute. I didn't crash though, but it can't be so many coincidences, something was definitely odd about that day itself, it was risky in a way.

Let's see if i manage to find out the code, but let me tell you, no, I don't spend a significant portion of my life trying to decode astrology. I just live.

Awesome thread.

Did anyone try this on Copilot? If not, and got nothing else to do, try it.

I tried, when I wanted to take a break from work at work. It was fun.

Re: ChatGPT as your astrologer. Anyone?

For people who want to try this - it's pretty easy.

Prompts are: a) your birthdate, b) birth time, c) birth place. Let it start with basic/generic output that it will throw, but then go deep probing each point. Money & finances, Career, Marriage & Family life etc. - whatever suits your fantasy.

Pls remember, it is prone to errors - so if you see something obviously fishy, please double down on that.

Irrespective of you believing in astrology, it's a fun experiment and yes spooky sometimes when it hits you right at the spot.

Re: ChatGPT as your astrologer. Anyone?

This is interesting. I have learnt a bit of Vedic astrology. Let me see how the AI does here.

A brief intro to Astro
Astrology consists of 2 parts - calculation and prediction. Yeh calculation part is where the software comes in handy. The prediction is where the person's experience comes into play. When a question paper is given to the students of a class, not everyone writes the same answers. There are many rules, permutations that are present, so prediction is very difficult thing.

The way I look at Astrology is like the weather forecast. We cannot stop the storm coming, we can take precautions to stay safe as much as possible. Our deeds determine the results and Astrology is completely based on Karma theory.

Please note, this was just to provide a glimpse of what Astrology is like any other subject. If we don't understand doesn't mean something is wrong or doesn't exist.

Have you heard of Russell's teapot thought experiment?

Essentially, I'm quite sure that there is a teapot in orbit between Earth and Mars. I know this is a difficult concept to understand, but just because you don't understand it doesn't mean the teapot does not exist.

If humans are yet to understand something, it means we still don't understand. Like dark energy. We know it exists, there is proof for its existence, but we don't understand it.

However, if there is no proof that something even exists, then we can't say either way. You can't say it exists, where is your proof? And you can't say it doesn't exist, because there is no way to eliminate all possibilities (Russell's teapot). Astrology is like that.

It is like wondering about the physics behind the flying elephants. No one has seen a flying elephant, there is no proof that flying elephants even exist. So, it would be pointless spending time on how elephants fly.

Hello, came across this thread while sitting in a hospital—both my father and brother were admitted at the same time, and it felt like a tough phase ahead. Out of curiosity, I entered my details as suggested. To my surprise, it accurately reflected what I was going through and even provided timelines on how my stars would influence my father’s and brother’s health, along with their recovery periods. It also offered remedies. Honestly, it feels like even astrologers might have serious competition now.
