MI have lost their opening match in the last 9 years. Nice match to start the tournament!

Apparently CSK think playing 11 batsmen is a good strategy.

And their fielding today was pathetic, looks like they were inspired by RCB's fielding yesterday rl:

From today's game, it does seem like Prithwi Shah has made some adjustments to his batting techniques, hope he's successful in this edition and makes another claim for a place in the national team.

He isn't out of woods yet. International cricket is very wicked when it comes to technical deficiencies. His high bat lift along with back & across movement makes him a high candidate for LBW. All you need is a Cummins or Woakes to get one to nip back at a pace for this to happen. Even yesterday there were couple of instances where his high bat lift caused him issues to adjust to Curran's slower ones.

Make no mistake, I want him to succeed. But his current technique makes him vulnerable to quality bowlers. A batsman with high bat lift has to have nimble feet and soft hands else a stuck footwork will make him a prime candidate for getting bowled/LBW or hard hands will cause good slip catch practice.

I agree, just said he is in the right direction with some changes in footwork, checking shots, better anticipation and also playing some balls by merit instead of premeditated shots. Apparently he has met Sachin tendulkar couple of times already and I could see some positive changes in his game yesterday. He still did get couple of lives too in the innings he played yesterday, so it is still early to say he is out of the woods :) Also, would be good to see how consistent he is this season.

In fact if you see my earlier posts, I had always mentioned that with technical deficiencies in his batting he will be easily sorted out at the international level by most good bowlers and then with today's video analysis, it will easily become known to all bowlers who play against him :D

What a debut performance from Chethan Sakariya! 3 for 31 in a run scoring fest! Stunning catch to dismiss Pooran and a sensational last over! Dream debutclap:

Can't belive KKR lost to MI while needing 31 off 28 balls. I thought it would be a formality with Dinesh Karthik and Andre Russel on the crease, but stranger things have happened in cricket! Lucky break for MI.

Can't believe RCB won another close game this time with a small total they put up and managed to end on the winning side after SRH lost their way despite a great start.

So, 2/2 wins in close games for RCB, looking forward to more wins.:thumbs up

Chennai pitch is definitely throwing up exciting matches. Back to back thrillers on consecutive days! Games like these are more interesting and engaging than the high scoring runathons.

It's really heartening to witness rather an even contest between the bat and the ball in quite a few matches in the first week of this edition. Good to see lowish totals defended and when they are chased down, it's not without a fight like the one Rajasthan Royals just managed to do. Great entertainment!

Thursday's game - RR managed to bounce back from a pretty bad position of 42-5 to win the game against DC, thanks to some big hitting by Morris in the end. However, DC bowling was pretty pedestrian towards the closing stages and they could have won it.

SRH, despite making 4 changes in the playing XI, have not brought in Kane Williamson arguably their match winning middle order batsman. What's the team management thinking ? I'm absolutely perplexed why they aren't bringing him in.

That is a million dollar question for all the fans.

But as per the coach, Kane is yet to be fit to be in the playing XI.

And I am baffled why Natarajan is not in the final 11.

Today's match might be the final & redeeming chance for Manish & Vijay Shankar to prove their worth.

Didn't they give the same reason for Kane last season as well ? He didn't play first few games and then came in to get them back on track with some worthy performances. Something much more than meets the eye!

Dropping Natarajan is another shocking change today.

Edit:Vijay Shankar got the prized wickets of Rohit and Surya

Why is Kedar Jadhav not playing for SRH? They got him precisely to strengthen their middle order isn't it?
My Playing XI for SRH would be:
Warner
Bairstow
Pandey
Jadhav
Shankar
Holder
Samad
Khan
Suchith
Kumar
Natrajan
