What a disaster!! There are only two things constant for RCB from the time IPL started, Kohli and No Title. No doubt he has been amazing for us, but he is past his prime and RCB owners need to prioritise winning the cup, rather then continue thinking of sponsorship money and hoping for Kohli to come good now.

Winning the cup will always be priority 2, compared valuations and sponsorship $$$ when it comes to IPL.

Winning without Kohli vs Not Winning with Kohli - they will prefer whatever is commercially better.

Just rumors, I believe (and hope).

Why will he take up that tension in this stage of his career?

Most people identify or associate RCB with Virat Kohli, why would they let him go?! Winning the IPL is secondary, its a business afterall so they have see where they're going to make more money.

re: The IPL Thread (Fantasy game league details on pg 255)

Auctioning makes IPL more interesting, even before the game starts in the ground, happy times for BCCI.

Looks like Pant is heading for CSK, interesting move.

Keeping an eye on Ishan Kishan, I’m sure he will also sell like a hot cake, let’s see who grabs him.

Punjab kings with the largest chunk of purse available will make most RTM strategy of other teams to the dust.

MI retained their core of 5 players which makes sense.

RCB retaining Patidhar at 11cr looks to be overboard.

KKR retaining Harshit Rana at 4cr is a steal, he should have garnered serious money in open pool, hard luck. Same for Nishit Reddy at SRH.

RR holding Jurel and letting go off Butler looks like a strategic mistake.

KL Rahul & Iyer is heading towards ?

With the purse to play with RCB Should try to go for Pant, also 21 crores for waning Kohli is such an overkill. Patidar at least showed that he can accelerate and play fast, though maybe they could have let him go too and used the RTM card. Knowing RCB they will go all out for KL Rahul and our scoreboard will read 30/0 after 6 overs with Kohli and KL as openers. I hope they go for Butler we need an opener who can play freely.

If they had let go off Kohli, they could have gone for both Ishan Kishan and Rishab Pant and also gone for Butler, would have been a good team and Butler could have been the captain.

So I was wrong about Rohit. Now let’s see how they can build the remaining team with limited purse.

RCB never let go off Virat due to the obvious marketing reasons. There will be a huge demand for wicket keepers this time as all teams except SRH and RR needs a specialist keeper. Interesting times in auctions now and Punjab going to spoilsport everyone’s party with huge purse.

Also there are some uncertainties with the participation of Butler and Green in next years IPL.

I dont think any foriegn player can dream of big bucks in this auction. There is not enough money in the pot this time.

I think the most to suffer will be Indian Uncapped players, while yes there will not be a repeat of crazy pricing they got last time, some foreign players will attract good bidding.

Punjab has played it smart they can earmark 4-5 players and can easily get them. The marketing reason will be another doomsday for RCB added to the guys who sit on bidding table, who have no clue how to make a team.

Don't think Jurel is worth 14cr! RR have overpaid him. Most likely Pant's salary will break a few records during the auction. And he isn't even a decent T20 player!

re: The IPL Thread (Fantasy game league details on pg 255)

This is interesting - England cricketer James Anderson registers for maiden IPL season at 42 years old, that too for the first time.

Call it all about priorities and wonderful avenue as a retirement planning, lets see who picks him up or goes unsold.

No way he goes unsold. I expect atleast a 4-5 CR bid for him. Even at this age he is an excellent swing bowler up front.

Quite possible he will go unsold. Most IPL teams look for a minimum 3 years of commitment especially from a capped international player. Or he may be selected with an intention to make him play 1 season and then be the bowling coach. And in India, he was hardly effective with his swing.

I think Anderson & his agent just registered for the IPL out of boredom! There's no way any of the franchisees will bid for him. They'll probably look at him more for a Mentor's role though he's more known for his red ball exploits.
