But enjoy while it lasts. I was lucky to meet and spend some time with Joy Bhattcharjya a few months back. I complained to him about the likes of Murali Karthik & Rohan Gavaskar joining and dragging the show down. He told me that the decision makers in Cricbuzz have changed and are open to bringing in such "experts".

I don't watch when Murali Karthik is there, but Rohan Gavaskar a couple of days back was not so bad. Sayomi Kher also has improved a lot from when she joined a couple of years back.

My fear is that the English show will become as bad as the Hindi show where Sehwag just talks about Sehwag.
The downfall has begun. Rohan Gavaskar and Murali Karthik are together on a double header Sunday. Skipped the show. Have tweeted my views to Kallol Sarkar of Cricbuzz, but don't think it will make a difference.

Same.
Though I watched a bit of the Hindi one as it was hosted by Gaurav Kapur who i enjoy listening to, and I can tolerate Sehwag sometimes. Show is best when it's the combo of Simon and Harsha.

I was just about to post here. The pre-match show today with the big 3 was awesome!

Gaurav Kapur did not hold back from pulling Harsha's leg on his alleged Eden Garden ban.

Simon Doul, Joy, Harsha are all great. Pommie is good (just has to shorten his monologue); Pollock is good and so are Lisa and Vaughan. But I am eagerly waiting for Gilchrist to join. He was fabulous last time.

Edit: On the TV commentators, I was pleasantly surprised by Varun Aaron. I think its his first gig, and he is good. Speaks well and speaks sense.

CSK looking forward to getting a new team in place for next season. Looks like they realized that their team is just not cutting it.

They were on fire yesterday and same trio will be doing it today as well. I too am waiting for Gilly to join the group.

They can't get a new team next season cos mega auction is for 3 years atleast. They can only hope to trade some player or get someone like Cam green in mini auction by releasing some other player. Everyone knew CSk and Kkr messed up their auction that day itself and now it shows in the results.

I would also add RR to this list of messed up auctions.

Just a click bait article with all smoke and mirrors.

This guy "Jaideep Bihani" needs to know cricket and the unpredictability T-20 comes with or he is smoking something special.

Really can these be the reasons for alleging a team of match fixing

Rajasthan Royals failed to score nine runs in last over vs LSG

They earlier lost a close game against Delhi Capitals as well

The Sanju Samson-led side is on eighth spot on points table

I might get flak from Dhoni fans, but still saying. My opinion unless he retires there is no chance for CSK improving next year also. If possible let Stephen Fleming also go.

Fleming supports Dhoni because if Dhoni retires his position is at stake

Re: The IPL Thread (Fantasy game league details on pg 255)

Is it only me who finds the IPL broadcast very irritating?

As it is, cricket takes a break every 5 minutes. Before a good over creates some excitement, its, well, over. As opposed to any other good live sport like football, tennis or hockey. Good for advertisers, but bad for viewer engagement.

Even inside those 5 minutes, there is a never-ending innuendo to fill up every pause in IPL. From Tata Neu I-don't-know-what to fantasy points to Tata curvv, to Rupay something to fan polls. Add the soundtrack to every reel, every moments package that has been running without update for years now.

Not to be left behind are the house DJs, who double fill every pause with more inane noise, and will not shut up till the ball leaves the hand. At least they can be silenced on the broadcast please?

In strange contrast, every DRS situation gets stuck like a tape cassette when ball tracking or ultra-edge is invoked. All the producer can come up with then is exaggerated reaction shots of players and the gallery, like a worthy import from a saas-bahu serial factory.

How can fans engage with the sport if you interrupt every buildup and then take 3 minutes to decide a wide? No story can engage if your screenplay looks like a highlights package thrown into a blender.

And then there are the people who have the important job of narrating the story unfolding before us. Screeching, jarring, loud yes, but how about entertaining?

Why is IPL so lax in tending to the goose that lays the golden egg?

Ah, then there is this prematch show. Unwatchable for 5 minutes. There is a post-match too, but I have never picked up the courage for it.
There was a time when I used to get up early to watch Australian prematch shows, from where the concept has been borrowed, which were frequently more engaging than the actual game.

There are clearly some things any money can't buy. For everything else, there's BCCI & Ambanis - not necessarily in that order.

You list out very valid points.

Wicket on the 5th ball, ad.

Last ball of the over done, ad.

And what horrendous ads! The parle ad is just insanely grating. Have marketers just given up on making good ads?

Need people of good caliber and charisma to hold pre match & post match shows.

And the standard third umpire narration while reviewing an appeal is just mind numbingly boring.

Am i noticing all this because of overall IPL fatigue or do i have IPL fatigue because of all these?

Re: The IPL Thread (Fantasy game league details on pg 255)

I only watch the live broadcast when the match gets interesting or when I am having a meal! It really is an overdose of matches during the IPL, though I used to watch each & every game once upon a time but now I just choose to do something else. I prefer watching the 30mins highlights on Star Sports the next morning.

Re: The IPL Thread (Fantasy game league details on pg 255)

I don't know where to post this message as I could not find a generic 'ad' thread, hence posting it here.
I found the new 'Parle Marie' TVC to be 'the worst' that I have ever seen. It is so annoying and irritating to watch.
Does anyone else feel the same?

Such clean hitting from a 14 year old boy, incredible. Fastest hundred by an Indian in IPL, Vaibhav Suryavanshi! What a bat swing, what a talent. Sensational innings that.
Will be remembered for a long time!
