Same holds true for Football, Basketball as well no?
:)
Rohit Sharma is living the best life in this IPL.
Takes a casual stroll to the crease, faces a couple of deliveries for formality, then spends the next 39 overs enjoying premium dugout seating, all while ₹16+ crores magically appear in his account. Genius!

He wasn’t the impact sub, so he fielded for 20 overs. Robin Minz was the impact sub.
Not sure why MI dropped their best bowler from last match, Vignesh. Probably carrying some injury.

Coming to bat after Ashwin! Seriously ? |
This is the difference between players of the new generation and the old generation, trying to escape from reality, living in a state of illusion and overhyped heroism. The recent Champions trophy victory was like the gold medal in hockey at Moscow Olympics.

He can't even play a little inswinging delivery from Siraj. And idiotic bcci is putting him on a Plane to England. Even Kohli shouldn't be selected for England series. Selection has become a mockery and no more meritous. Thank god these 2 atleast retired from T20.
It was funny to see MI bat yesterday which was a complete replay of how CSk batted a day before. Zero Intent to win the game. Hardik was trying to bully the young Sai Kishore and instead played a shameful match losing innings.
Gill is leading GT well. RR are complete idiots for letting Buttler go. He can play a holding and attacking innings and he is very good at playing spin.

It is an open secret that MSD brings in dollars for the franchise and the league. And the team owners are in it to make money.
Till the time the majority of the fans will rejoice at Ruturaj getting out and MSD coming in, in spite of the former being the only one who could have won it for CSK this will continue.
In this setup, both Ashwin and MSD are dragging the franchise down on the field.

Completely agree. But you also have Tripathi, Hooda, Curran etc as well. Overall I would say it does not look like a balanced team.
The statistic that CSK has not chased down a 180+ total in the last 5 years was rather telling and that alone speaks for itself.
Gaikwad, Dube, Rachin, Noor would be the pick of the team. Jadeja as well to an extent but all others...Dhoni if he could bat somewhere up the order should be good. He should get a medical certificate saying he can't run and should have a byrunner :coldsweat

So this was the quote:
Feel sorry for Pant now! Quite an immature statement to give in a public forum when he belongs to a franchisee culture where tomorrow he might need to play for anyone. Btw he is under a lot of stress after each loss and the stress is clearly visible on his face as he starts the long walk back to the dugout. This Goenka fellow seems to be very ill-advised, definitely a dictator in disguise. Why doesn't he realize that every outburst of his against his own players after each loss is only making the situation worse?
PS: I foresee Pant being stripped of his captainship very soon by LSG management!

Thala should be called Thatha lol:
I think Fleming is worried that Dhoni will take his place when he stops playing

Quite amazing that Pant hasn't cracked this format that everyone thought he will excel at! Probably that Goenka fellow should force Pant to open the innings, perhaps that might change fortunes of LSG.

Pant has one way of playing and it works in Tests because most of the time the fielders would be around you instead of stationed at boundaries. Also he has the luxury to take singles or go silent for few overs and start to attack again. Whereas in T20 he has to keep going against field setting and bowling setup who's primary objective is to stop the boundaries.
Maybe it will be beneficial if he comes in powerplay maybe at No.3
Pant loses his shape while trying to play attacking shots and that's one of the primary reason as to why he has failed to crack ODIs and T20s. He is also not as good as Rohit or Kohli in rotating the strike which is another critical skill in white ball cricket.
I agree with the above comment. Pant's best spot in white ball cricket is as an opener.

I'd add Conway to the list. Gaikwad & Conway has been the (next) best opening pair for CSK- next only to Gaikwad & Faf, of course. I think Rachin is quite dynamic with the bat, and can bat at 3 or 4 just as well. So, in my opinion, CSK should return back to Gaikwad & Conway for opening. With the bottom order being only virtually existent, opening and middle is actually what they should be focusing on, and have their best players for the job there. Conway is also a terrific fielder, which CSK needs an awful lot of more than anything else.
I don't think it'd make any difference honestly, with Dhoni batting higher up- and I say this as an ardent fan and an admirer. He still takes his own sweet time to 'finish it out in the final overs', which has failed time and again lately, even when facing fast-medium bowlers like Yash Dayal, Sandeep Sharma, etc. Wherever he chooses to bat, I feel his contribution in runs will pretty much be the same. If anything, I'm rather glad to have known exactly how capable Ashwin is with the bat, early in the season.
To me, it is just disappointing with Dhoni. You either 'quit at your best' and have people remember you as that, or 'rage against the dying of the light'- that is the next best way to earn or keep the respect. But he's out here gliding over the game, doing neither. The lack of intent which fans have criticised years ago, is still very much the case. There is simply no two ways about it.

All throughout his International career everyone kept insisting that Dhoni should bat 1 or 2 positions higher but that never happened for whatever reasons! He was always intent on taking the game deep. And now we're seeing him bat at no.9 at the age of 43.
