If Dravid sits out, then who will play for BRC team. At least he scores late but he makes atleast 30+ runs. I would suggest remove him from his captiancy.
Both Laxman and Dravid had been scoring since last few matches.
Laxman had scored 40 odd runs in one of the matches and Gibbs didnt get much strike. I guess Dravid did right thing yday by coming down the order.
Today DC have done right thing by opening with Gibbs and Gilly. Laxman and Dravid should come 4th-5th down in the order.
Mallya had cracked his whip by sacking out Charu Sharma as CEO of RBC and also Venkatesh Prasad has been relieved off his coaching duties. Brijesh patel is the new CEO and i think there will be other ramifications in other teams as well.
But I suppose there is nothing about any players being changed or dropped, is it not the players playing :D

Bangalore Royal Challengers' poor start to the Indian Premier League has led to Charu Sharma, CEO of the franchise, being removed from his post. Sources within the team-management confirmed to Cricinfo that Sharma has been removed, a day after the team were comprehensively beaten on home ground by Kings XI Punjab, their fifth defeat in the competition.

I also heard that one of the teams ( I think Mohali ) has sacked some players that have not played till now, most of them under 19s. It was on one of those so called news channels.

I dont think these players are taking it lightly as they must be aware that they would not be fetching any price at next auction.
The failure of RCB really indicates the mindset of some cricketers (Dravid) and some people associated with cricket(Charu).
Charu picked the team which was not suited to T20 and he just went by their reputations and past records. He was not aware of ground realities inspite of the success if young India team in T20 WC.
Even our national selectors(except few) and most of us have been guilty of supporting older players even when they are not scoring runs and taking wickets.Tons of runs scored in the past are given as logical reason behind this support.
But we have to remember that if we have ti find more Rohits,Gambirs and Ishants we have to part way with Sachin,Dravid,Ganguly etc one day or another.
Dravid is also responsible for not dropping Kallis even when kallis has not played well in any match so far.Mr.Wall is having blind faith in Kallis just because of his past record but not willing to accept present reality.
Now Gony would not have made it to even Punjab team if most of Pb players(along with most of Hyderabad players) had not gone to Zee's ICL ,then somehow he got picked up for IPL and rest is history. He hit two huge sixes in the last over today and then was the best bolwer of CSK team.
Bangalore at the bottom of the table again :(
DC finally batted like a team under Gilchrist. Will Laxman make it to the next match? The current XI looks perfect.
DC winning means RCB is again at the bottom of the table !!
When you say past records, I guess your meant past Test & ODI records, not T20 records.

Nopes. VVS is any day better than VenuGopal Rao. the perfect situation would be Laxman in the playing 11 but Gilly captain. But doesn't look likely.
How about Laxman coming out to toss and the Gilly taking over as the
ghost captain. Laxman skipper only on paper :p
Well i loved the way afridi finished off the match yesterday THRASHING joginder sharma. Wow. He was running on some sort of lucky charm for some time and this was surely going to happen.
Well i really wish the lower 4 teams start playing well and defeating the upper level teams so that some sort of charm will remain in IPL
I hope Laxman sits out for other matches so that they can win.
Most of the players in Bangalore team were selected on Dravid's advice not just Charu Sharma's.
Some one here rightly pointed out that Kallis, Boucher and Misbah are taking this lightly. Look at the way the Aussies play even after retiring. you can see 100% commitment in the not just the way they bat or bowl. They also throw themselves out during fielding (Steyn has done it couple of times of Bangalore). They don't care about injuries etc., They are more interested in how they perform now.
Afridi is the biggest fluke player in the world IMO. No talent, no brains, no technique , chucks when he bowls and surprise still plays for his country.

lol: Gautam i agree with you to an extent. The problem with Afridi is he doesnt value his wicket. But if its day he can win matches one handedly. But i think he s lost his form its been long since he has scored a match winning innings. His bowling is quite useful though.
Hit or miss players Hyderabad has are:
1. Afridi
2. Gilchrist
3. Gibbs
4. Styris
Their natioanl teams play these players as 'bonus'. If they are hit, match is theirs. If they miss, they have cover in other batsmen.
What if they are packed in 1 team? On a 'hit' day, this team can score 300 in 20 overs. Till now only 'misses'. No wonder the team was at the bottom.

Charu Sharma, who was removed as CEO by Bangalore Royal Challengers on Tuesday, says he did not step down from the job as the IPL franchise said, but was "
summarily dismissed".
Quote:
"I am not a quitter, especially when the chips are down," Sharma said in a statement. "The company has every right to hire and fire personnel. For details of why I was summarily dismissed from my duties, three hours before I was to board a flight to Kolkata for the next match, please contact representatives of the company."
|
Mallya's friends
heckled him after the auction:
Quote:
"After the first round of auction in Mumbai, a few friends congratulated me on my Test team," Vijay Mallya, the franchise owner, said before the IPL.
|
What Dravid thinks of T20: Quote:
" I (Mallya) mentioned this to our captain Dravid and he laughed it off and told me that Test cricket is the ultimate test for any cricketer and if a player can do well in that format, then he can do well in all other formats, be it one-day matches or Twenty20."
|
This is what Martin Crowe thinks: Quote:
Martin Crowe, the director of operations, conceded as much. "Take out Misbah [ul-Haq] and we don't have a specialist Twenty20 player," he told Cricinfo. "We don't have a specialist Twenty20 opener (even Shivnarine Chanderpaul is a converted opener)."
|
Several questions need to be asked at this stage.
Quote:
- Why was Misbah benched when he was available for games against Rajasthan and the Delhi Daredevils?
- Why has Chanderpaul got just two games?
- Why did it take six games to ease out Boucher?
- And what justifies the excessive faith placed in Jacques Kallis?
|
Opening woes Quote:
Six different batsmen (Jaffer, Chanderpaul, Bharat Chipli, Kumar, Virat Kohli, and Dravid himself) have opened in a tournament when wins have been largely based on opening partnerships.
|
New CEO Quote:
Curiously, Patel, the new CEO, and Mallya were on the opposite sides of a bitterly fought election to the general body of the KSCA, in which Mallya was backing Srikantadatta Wadiyar for the president's post against Gundappa Viswanath, the former Test batsman who was supported by Patel. Though Wadiyar won, Patel, known for his organisational skills, managed to hold on to the secretary's post.

- Cricinfo - It's the cricket, stupid!
- Cricinfo - Charu Sharma removed as Bangalore's CEO
- Cricinfo - Bangalore's ex-CEO says he was "summarily dismissed"

Hmmm.... You've clubbed Gilly and Afridi in one bracket. I am sure this is the biggest compliment Afridi would have ever received.

Gilly - a bonus!!!! What a bonus he was!!! One of the best, hell THE BEST wicketkeeper-batsman of all time. He was good enough to make it to any test team on the basis of his batting alone. You don't under-value a batsman with a test average of 47.60, 17 centuries and a strike rate of 81.95.
Was there ever a bigger impact player?
