1. Airtel.
2. BSNL(put it at #1 if you can get the connection and live with occasional 2-3 days long breakdowns).

Airtel by far is the best service provider pertaining to the quality of the speed assured and also the down link service rendering it asap compared to others.

Airtel is very good. I have a rs 777 combo which gives me a land line with rs 200 worth of call free per month and a 2 mbps connection with 4gb download limit. Just add a wireless modem n u are good to go.Been using airtel bb for over a year now and havent really faced any issues.

Before this I had a zee broadband, not too bad but not cost effective plus not good enough coverage.

Airtel!

I have the 999 plan - the standard plan is 256kbps with few free local calls. but I have gone in for 382kbps speeds by discarding the phone calls. Good speed and very good service.

Airtel was not serving in South Bangalore. check with them if they offer Broadband services in Bangalore south. BSNL is quite good. i have had a downtime of only 3 days last year (when telephone line was down)

Airtel.

After moving in to my new flat,I was forced to go in for BSNL as Airtel has not been given permission to draw lines till my apartments. Experience with BSNL is satisfactory but nowhere near when I compare it with my previous experience (of 3 yrs) with Airtel. Not once during those 3 years with Airtel, did I call them complaining about a broken connection or dropped link. Link was always up and speed was terrific.

With BSNL, the speeds are good but then there is no consistency. Suddenly it goes very slow or breaks down (I face this a lot especially over the weekends). If I call customer help, they are clueless.

So if you have a choice of Airtel, then go in for Airtel else go in for Dataone.

Been using BSNL dataone for 2+ years now. I must say that in recent months the quality has done down drastically. Takes forever to get connected (though it is supposed to be always on) and breaks are too frequent in between.

Previously, Airtel did not serve Hosur road (Bomanahalli) but now they do and they were in my appt complex few weeks ago. Am tempted to switch based on the feedback here.

Airtel wins hands down. BSNL is good as long as you don't have a line going down issue. After that you are at the mercy of the lineman. Keep the lineman happy with "Bakhshish" you are happy. If you don't give the prasad, then be prepare to suffer like I did.
As soon as airtel came to our apartment building, I shifted to them(In Noida)
In Bangalore I used Airtel for 6 months, and not even once there were any issues which did not get resolved within 1 hour.

But then a lot depends on whether airtel gives BB in your area?

Not all services are available everywhere. As everybody mentioned get Airtel if its available. Otherwise choose either BSNL to Reliance WiMax.

Whatever you do, do NOT take net connection from cable operator.
