After all the test, doctor said that i am a good candidate for lasik and can go for any type of Lasik(20k - 1.25L)
Rest period after surgery : 8 days. Would need to join office after that since i am in software field... would need to spend 8-10 hrs staring at screens.

Since the doctors talked about intralase been the safest, i think i would go for it.

75k looks very costly. I did PRK Lasik 3 years ago, and couldn't be more happy about it. Wore glasses for 12-14 years :( Finally said 'enough' and proceeded with PRK. It costed me some 25k in Pune NIO (Very good hospital for Lasik btw)

If you can't see anything once you remove glasses, or very blur, lasik will open new world to you! I have been riding in night/rains/all sorts of conditions after the operation. Very rarely do my eyes get dry, and I use 'Tears Naturale' drops for them.

I was operated on Friday afternoon (Took half day leave from office!) and was back in office on Wednesday. I had to really enlarge the fonts on the screen, and use the drops very religiously on time. But soon it got settled.

I remember reading that Lasik PRK (with blade) is indeed better than bladeless due to some matter concerning Cataract in later life. You might want to search on these lines.

Don't worry too much about levels of pain now, none are comparable to burning or sharp cutting. Mild discomfort for some hours, that's it. It is not that in one you will get your guts spilled out and in other you will be in heavenly bliss :)

Thanks good.

And how come 15k for contacts for an year?

Thats because i was using fortnightly disposable lenses and they would cost 2900 for 6 pairs, which last for 3 months. So, for one year, just the lenses cost would be 11,600. Throw in the contact lens solution supply for an year and it comes to nearly 15K.

Recently I was at Wasan Eye Care for a routine eye test. I was told by one of the docs that Lasik is not recommended once you cross 35. Since I am 40+, he said Lasik is not even an option for me.

I am not interested in Lasik in the first place, but I was surprised I was disqualified anyway.

Did you get this reverse?? bladeless method erodes less corneal thickness than the blade technique.

I got my LASIK done on 02-Dec-2011. I went for the bladeless ultimate lasik. Its been over 3 months now.
I had severe dry eyes after the operation until last 1 week. Had been heavily dependent on drops and gel. Infact had to take drops every 10-20 mins. and if my eyes went dry, things appeared blurry.

Has been a big improvement in past 1 week. Doc says that i have 'very dry eyes' now. I take that as an improvement from 'severe dry eyes' :) . doc says healing period is 6 months. Hoping for the best.

I use only gel now at reduced frequency. However, it sure is a huge difference not having to wear specs.

Can anybody recommend me some good doctors/centers for get lasik done in Delhi/NCR (preferably in UP ghaziabad/noida area although delhi would also do) ?

I was thinking of going to center of sight which seems to be most famous one in Delhi but i'm getting mixed reviews for that place as some people say they loot you. Does anybody have a personal experience at that place or any other recommendations ?

A good writeup about this ( actually about the whole process in simple language).

Just saw this thread! My Dad is a LASIK Surgeon based in Ludhiana, Punjab.

I would be able to get answers to any questions by fellow Bhpians .

But I would just like to tell the golden rule about LASIK eligibility(surely would have been written by somebody earlier as well).
Long time contact lens users face the most problem as contact lenses tend to thin the Cornea. So if you are thinking about LASIK anytime in your life, try keeping the contacts usage to a minimum

In Delhi. Go straight to Mohan Eye Institute. Its near Sir Ganga Ram Hospital.
Another option for Lasik is Eye7. Heard quite a lot about them.

Just saw this thread. I too have been using contact lenses for more than 10 years now and use it for nearly 12 hours a day. I absolutely love the lenses but its still difficult to ride a bike or enter a swimming pool hence i thought of going for LASIK soon.

My doctor in mumbai who recently performed the cataract surgery for my dad quoted around 30k for both the eyes and said that only couple of days of rest needed and everything would be normal.

I did Lasik on both my eyes way back in year 2002.I had a minus power of 5 and 4 respectively. Did it from Lotus Eye ,Coiambatore.TN.

That time Lasik was coming up as the new technology. I had the cylindrical power also and it too corrected around 95%.

Now no power glass, no contact lens

Btw, I have used contact lenses before this surgery for around 10 years

Now All is well !

I am not saying straightaway that you won't be able to get LASIK, but the Cornea would have surely lost some thickness since the time you started wearing contacts. If you had a reasonably thick cornea, you would still be good, but sometimes you end up near the borderline and that is no good!

Also, another thing, before getting the tests for the LASIK. (BTW,These tests are called study of the Topography of the Cornea, normally just called Topgraphy), you should not use the Contact Lenses for 1-2 weeks before the test, so as to allow the Cornea to come to its normal thickness, without the abrasive effect of the Contact lenses.

I am a LASIK surgeon myself and think this is incorrect. Any references for the same?

A quick googling yielded this.http://www.google.com/url?q=http://e...ed=0CEwQygQwBg It states more the time you have used the contacts, earlier you need to leave them before surgery. But I will try to find more info. and post it here.
