Friends , Today we see a lot of advertisements regarding online Jobs or other online oppertunities through which we can earn a handsome amount every month. But is there any truth in this?Have any of you experienced anything like this? IF someone can give me any lead or information regardign the same it will be of great help to me.

Thanks in Advance,
VIJAY:thumbs up

Vijay, I am assuming that you saw these adverts on newspapers or lampposts. There is very little truth in such ads (maybe 5%), so treat any dealing with caution.
Regarding jobs online, where you can work from home, yes, you can do that, but you better have good skills (programming, designing, writing, etc). If you do, then there are lots of sites that can help you make a decent amount of money, sitting in the comfort of your home.

THank you so much for the quick reply.ASsuoming if a person has a certain skill ie programming, writing etc which sites can he approach.Any clue?

Vijay, the best ones are and many others.

All the best in your search. :thumbs up

Be careful about the ads in the classifieds section. Chances are that you will end up being cheated.

elance.com ..... one of my friend is working on some project from this site and earning so this is no fraud :)

There are many technology blogs which will hire you and pay you per article/word. I've done it myself and earned around 100k inr in a short while (less than a year), though that isn't much for the time I was putting in.

elance.com is also popular. My friends and I have had personal experience (I mean we got paid) with RentACoder, ScriptLance and GetAFreelancer.

These sites work very well. Know quite a few people who left jobs and earning through these.

However, be prepared to spend few months building up your "network" by doing things cheap.

Ones you have happy customers, word of mouth will get you more work then you can possibly handle.

Further to that, it would also help to create a personal website with information, references, previous projects, samples etc. A 5 page website shouldn't cost more than 5,000 rupees, but will add a professional touch to your profile. This will help in generating more business.

We have hired a coder from getafreelancer atleast once. Took all the necessary precautions and thus, project completion was a breeze.

THank you soo much for your replies and advices.Really appreciate it.WIll check out Elance.com and give you all my feedback. Hope this thread helps many students who wish to earn some money through these online oppertunities.

Vijay, dont try only one. Try atleast 3. elance, RentACoder, and another one.
All the best in your efforts.
