Today i got a really nice card from that gentelman from Holland wishing happy new year and thanking for our help and effort.

You can try these options.

1)Post it on lost and found in craigslist
2)You have his name, google him up and see if he has a myface or friendster or any other social networking site. Post a mesg on his profile and see if it's the same person.
