Physiotherapy and exercises were advised but at that moment pain was so severe that neither was possible. Now it is back to normal and we can consider these options too. She is also sitting in the sun for 10-15 min a day.

How long should cholecalciferol granules be taken and when should we repeat the test?
Yes, with severe pain, exercises should be avoided. But physiotherapy may be helpful.
Once a week maybe taken for 6 to 8 weeks, and then you can repeat the blood test.

Yes, although the cases with amlodipine are extremely rare. First visit a periodontist and get a prophy done. Then in consultation with the periodontist and the physician think about drug substitution. Do not do anything on your own.

Secondly the efficacy of the vaccine hasn't been tested in indian population. I would not recommend although I am not an expert in ob/gyn.
This has been a political issue as well where well meaning politicians have asked for mandatory vaccinations in teenage girls.

HPV can cause cervical cancers, and vaccination may help. But the question is how likely is one to contract it in the first place. Technically there are multiple ways to contract it, and not all infections result in cancers AFAIK.

The reason it's popularized is it's the only cancer that's preventable via vaccination. And has been a flagship case of cancer researchers.

re: Calling doctors/dentists/specialists on Team-BHP to provide free consultations

question to Perio/gum surgeon
I was advised 'flap surgery' as I lost quite a bit of bone and severe gum infection.
Heard that now we have better operating methods using laser than conventional 'flap'?

Any suggestions and references in Hyderabad.

As per google research, laser is safe and get you faster recovery.

Any insight greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

The only meaning I see is that the said politician got lot of donations from the vaccine company.

If the dentist has got his degree from the internet, then trust google. Otherwise, go with the doctor's recommendation.

re: Calling doctors/dentists/specialists on Team-BHP to provide free consultations

Don't know if this is a fit question for this thread, but I am hoping the medical community must be having some authentic information.

Are sea fishes contaminated with mercury (metal) in India? I am a regular consumer of sea fish but mostly the smaller ones. My three old like mackerels very much. Recently the fish vendor casually mentioned that mackerel is not good for kids, though his idea could be to push for more expensive varieties of fishes. This got me thinking and searched the net for information in mercury or metal contamination in fishes in India. though not much information I could get. Let me know if I should take precautions.

Have been down with severe cold and light fever from the past 2 days. Was prescribed with 'Cheston cold' and it seems to have had little or no impact on me. Anything else that i can try with ?
Damn, this cold can be a severe handicap

Yes.

But, smaller the fish, lesser is the contamination. Big fish eats small fish - so higher up in the food chain, more is the concentration of toxins.

I generally stick to sardines, mackerel (smaller one, not the King Mackerel / Seer Fish), anchovies, crab and small prawns.

Would be better to limit your kid's sea-food diet to sardines, anchovies and small prawns.

and for the same reason avoid organ meat from sheep/ goat/ chicken.

Organ meats would include liver, kidney, brains etc.

Thank you Windride and BBlost.

As for freshwater varieties, I think these are safe from such contamination.

From mercury, yes.
But freshwater (meaning, farmed) fishes aren't safe either. The antibiotics used in their farming is directly responsible for the increased resistance in human beings to common antibiotics available over-the-counter.

This applies to other farmed meat products like chicken, etc.

I believe, the govt. has introduced guidelines to fisheries/hatcheries to stop using antibiotics on animals 45 days prior to the animals/fishes being slaughtered/harvested.

No.
If you become resistant to antibiotics, next time you come down with an illness, commonly prescribed antibiotics will not work for you. The doctor will be forced to prescrible higher dosages or much stronger antibiotics.

It is for this very same reason that popping pills at the drop of a hat (aka, self-medication) is frowned upon by the medical community.
