I have only 2 fragrances in my collection.

1. Y For Men EDP Intense By YSL - office-wear or winter fragrance.
2. Rasasi fattan EDP - casual ware or summer/rainy fragrance.

YSL Y is fresh and spicy where as Rasasi Fattan is a clone of Terre d Hermes EDT which is more smoky and woody Vetiver kind of fragrance.

Would like to know from experts which one from the below list should be my pick as versatile and all year around fragrance or any other better suggestions would be appreciated.

1. Intense Cedrat Boise By Mancera
2. Bleu de Chanel EDP
3. Gentleman Boise by Givenchy EDP or Reserve Privee EDP

My wife tries to coat me in various perfumes and pit creams, but I have a favourite which I've used for long - Yardley Gentleman Classic.

I like the combo of Amber and Sandal and Musk, and I generally apply it when I go to office.

I do have a bunch of other stuff, like Acqua di Gio and Davidoff Cool Water, but I dogmatically stick to Yardley Gentleman Classic.

This is my current collection

This is a Discovery kit I ordered from an Indian brand called All Good scents. They last really long and some of their secents are terrific (Arise, Smooth, Cool and Free). I would recommend on checking this brand out.

These are my daily rides :)
1. Armaf Club De Nuit Intense. This is a great one liked by all age groups . Also the longevity is good.
2. World Golden perfumes. Saw this shop in a mall here in Kerala. This smells like Jean Paul Gaultier Le Beau and has good longevity.
3. Eternal Love X-Louis . This is more of an office perfume and is a bit hard.
4. Hugo Boss. More of a Vanilla - Apple smell.
5. David off Coolwater. An iconic perfume that needs no introduction. Regular in this thread since it's inception, this one is for all ages and a regular wardrobe staple. Dont know how many bottles I must have used by now !
6. Got a sample of Bleu De Channel and smells terrific. Must get a bottle later

The less said about the above bunch the better. These left me less impressed.

Got into Sauvage since this is what everyone goes for these days. To be honest I am not that impressed by the EDT (60 ML) and EDP (Sample). But the Elixir is a different beast ! Would recommend getting the Elixir if one can afford it. It is what Bruce Wayne would likely wear to a party lol:

Elixir is not an everyday scent. It's a loud fragrance, good for evenings and party. Also try out Sauvage Parfum. It's sweet, has none of the citrussy sharpness of the EDT. It's smooth and amazing. My favourite is the EDP. Nice balance between the zingy citrus and sweet amber.

Off late I have seen a lot of perfume startups advertising aggressively on Instagram.
House of EM5, House of Kanzan, Indinoir etc etc. Basically they are just copying expensive perfumes and selling it for cheaper.
Has anyone tried any of these?

I'll simply put it as "You get what you pay for" :)

Is that so simple? The cost of luxury goods is mostly due to the brand value than the actual product. So the clone (rather inspired) fragrances might not always be of inferior quality.

For the Summers, I am using YSL Jazz & Live Jazz, both of which are discontinued now. Also Encre Noire and Guerlain Vetiver. For special occasions I have some Creed GIT saved and also some Creed Green Valley.

Hi guys just wanted to share an update to my collection. I started collecting perfumes in January of last year started with some clones and then switched into designer brands. My daily usage is more of Versace Eau Fraiche & Missoni Wave along with other middle eastern fragrances. Currently I am more interested by perfumes with unique notes.

Tom Ford Noir Extreme - Noir Extreme opens up with a burst of invigorating cardamom and mandarin balanced with the warmth of saffron and nutmeg. As the fragrance warms up on your skin, the creamy, yet slightly powdery kulfi comes to the fore.

Dolce & Gabbana The One Mysterious Night - The opening is floral, woody, and sweet. Right away you pick up on the rose and saffron, with hints of the oud coming out underneath. In the dry down there's still a strong note of rose but the oud/woods note is much more noticeable. You also get the sweet coziness of the tonka, amber, and labdanum.

Dolce & Gabbana The One Royal Night - Opening is sweet and spicy, you get the cardamom right away & the sweetness from the nutmeg, amber & pear notes. It's a woody scent with just the right amount of sweetness and spiciness. Within a few minutes of spraying it on, the sweetness starts getting dialled back and the woods and labdanum start coming to the foreground. It sticks closely to the original DNA yet being different enough NOT to be redundant.

Dolce & Gabbana The One Luminous Night - The opening notes immediately grab your attention with a burst of vibrant bergamot and black pepper & basil. Opening is sweet and spicy. Right off the top you get the black pepper, dates, and amber. The date note gives it a unique, sweet, sugar, gourmand feeling. This is adequately balanced out by the spiciness of the black pepper, and the amber. In the dry down the incense brings out a smoky accord and the sandalwood adds some creamy thickness to the dates note. I get 8 to 9 hours of projection with this one.

Mancera Oud Lemon Mint - Mouthwatering lemon with a deep oud base. It's heavy enough for cold weather, it’s fresh enough for hot weather, it is good for the outdoors, It is good for the office. It has that signature Mancera synthetic fresh oudiness that makes it a staple for the brand. The longevity and projection is amazing. The scent isn’t the most mass appealing, but I think most fragrance connoisseurs will appreciate the scent profile.

Mancera Intense Cedrat Boise - It smells like a mix of citrus, leather, musk and a small bit of oud. That might sound strange, but damn is it fantastic. Smells masculine and strong. The sandalwood still gives the woodiness an attractive aspect.

Mancera Tonka Cola - This smells a lot like Cherry Cola to me, the cinnamon and cola is the first thing you get when you spray it on, and it is magnificent. The coke doesn't smell much like actual coca cola, but it smells more like coke sweets / candy. it turns into a gorgeous spicy delight. In the dry down, It smells like when you go into one of the big-name craft stores during Christmas.

Byredo Bal D’Afrique - The opening is a burst of fresh, soapy citrus mixed with aromatic florals that makes this smell like a luxurious body wash. Once you go through the top and middle notes it turns more woodier along with a vetiver note towards the end. The reviews say the notes and the overall scent profile isn’t something extraordinary and it's very linear, I somehow though did get a creamy coconut smell when I tried this on my skin. Where this takes a nosedive is the projection & longevity especially at this price point, it settles down as a skin scent within the first 3 hours.

ADG Profumo - Profumo is similar to the original Acqua di Gio, but a bit heavier and darker. Have both the smoky magnetic and toned-down non-magnetic version.

ADG Profundo - It starts off really aquatic with hints of salt/minerals and pretty much smells like the sea. After the dry down you can pick up the spices, but the mineral scent overpowers it in a good way.

La Nuit De L’Homme Bleu Electrique - Very well-balanced blend of cardamom, ginger, and bergamot with a little bit of lavender underneath. Much smoother and fresher than the OG La Nuit De L’Homme. It's very versatile, not just a date fragrance, far from it, it's an amazing daily. The only problem with the whole L'Homme & La Nuit De L'Homme lines is the performance. Somewhat weak projection and bang average longevity.

La Nuit De L’Homme – Smooth powdery warm aromatic cardamom, This formulation however, is a shadow of what it was.

Lalique Ombre Noire – Lovely boozy amber and spice opening, Strong notes of cinnamon, tobacco, and cognac with ambery sweetness from the Frankincense, absolutely gorgeous and unlike anything else. Not a safe blind buy. It's a niche quality fragrance, it’s made to be interesting & not to be everyone's cup of tea.

Gisada Ambassador - Gisada Ambassador opens with a burst of citrusy and fruity notes, including bergamot, lemon, and blackcurrant but it's the mango syrupy note (hard boiled sugar candy) that takes the centre stage from the get-go. It gracefully transitions into a heart of floral as the fragrance develops. And settles into more vanillic ambery notes. To sum it up it's a youthful loud scent that is fruity, overly sweet, full of ambroxan.

Bvlgari Aqua Atlantique - Aqua atlantique has a unique formulation and strays away from your generic blue contenders. A summer scent with great longevity, and yes it truly shines in the heat. It opens up citrusy then you smell the aquatic, salty seawater note in the middle. It dries down a bit woody, fresh and ambery. Heard a few people saying it is similar to dylan blue but I feel aqua atlantique has abit more depth.

Burberry Hero EDP - Personally love this, especially for winter. I love wearing this all though the dry down is not very complex. It hits a few notes really well and I think that's why it stands out so much for me. It starts of as a balsamic spicy opening and then settles down into a woody but not overtly sweet benzoic note.

Paco Rabanne One Million Lucky - Lovely plum, honey, nutty scent, with ozonic and floral touches. The warm notes in here like jasmine and hazelnut really round off the sweetness with warmth and serenity. All that honey and light, fresh/airy/ozonic notes go so well with the sweet and warm woody base. It’s an attention grabber and a compliment monster.

I am considering Nishane Sultan Vetiver to bridge the gap as I do not have any vetiver based fragrances in the collection.

I have never used a perfume or cologne or deodorant in my life, save for some random squeeze I gather from whatever I could grab, while attending some function.

I am absolutely floored by your collection and your words oozed so much love, dedication and passion towards perfumes. It felt like watching an exquisite painting or drawing, only that here it was your sharing your innermost emotions connected with these perfumes.

I enjoyed reading your post while I admit, I didn't fathom much of it as I don't use perfume..

Nevertheless, you deserve my respect, thanks and an ovation.:Cheering:

Well done. Keep it up, sir.clap:

My wife dragged me to Tira to try out Tom Ford Velvet Orchid. It's amazing and exotic. The tester spayed on my forearm smelled awesome even as it changed notes and stayed on the arm for almost 6 hours post that. My wife liked it even more than me. ;)

She also made me test out this Prada Intense and YSL MYSLF. Somehow felt the Prada one smelled better, and somehow more macho.

Now I'm a total noob at what note is which, and so on. All I figured out was that I like shades of Amber and Iris and Sandal. And that THAT Velvet Orchid thingy is amazing. :loveit

The wife absolutely loved Lancome Miracle EDP over anything else, but that's a conversation for another day.

Tried a lot of latest stuff through decants or in store, suggested by youtube fragrace experts. Somehow I couldn't get my self to like most of them even though they seemed to be pretty popular otherwise. Then I happened to try some classic old fragrances and I realised that I instantly loved them. A couple of classics I had already been using for long. Maybe its related to the age or whatever, I was born in the 80s.

Those I didn't like were -
Aqua DiGio(most of the cheap Deos are based on it),
Sauvage Elixir(too harsh),
Lattafa Asad(clone of previous one, causes headache),
Fattan(smells like engine oil to me),
Rasasi Hawas(felt nothing special, ordinary).

Those that I liked were -

Davidoff cool water(just can't have enough of it, unique),
Geoffery Beene Grey Flannel,
Drakkar Noir,
Tabac Original,
Jacques Bogart Pour Homme

I have been collecting fragrances for about 2-3 years now. I am a latecomer to the fragrance world and now have a decent collection. I am also born in the 80s and I also like some of the classics like YSL Kouros, Chanel Antaeus, Zino by Davidoff, One Man Show. Seems there is indeed something about those scent profiles that appeal to our age group.
