this movie is great. it is a very small budget movie set wholly in a single room. superb acting and very thought provoking storyline. but only for those who like to think through the plot. i recommended it to some friends and none of them went past the first half an hour. :(

Yesterday watched a 1947 made "Its a Wonderful Life" movie about a small town business man who tries to end his life due to frustrations and how an angel changes all that. Its a nice movie with quite a few comic instances.

Its a Wonderful Life IMDB

Anyone watched Cloud Atlas? I just finished the book and wanted to watch the movie but couldn't in the weekdays. Don't like spending more than 200 for a movie so don't want to watch in the weekends. But looks like it will not last more than the weekend. Was it that bad?

absolutely wonderful movie. james stewart at his best. this is the kind of movie we all can learn something from and also enjoy watching it!

Skyfall - Has to be the worst bond movie I have ever seen. I know people are still going to see this and they really should. This movie suffers from a weak story. For me Casino Royale remains the best bond movie featuring Daniel Craig. I like him as James Bond but somehow the directors/scriptwriters have not done justice to him. All in all - a pretty weak bond movie - do not see it with great expectations.

Skyfall seriously doesn't do justice to the Bond franchise. Its hurts me badly as a Bond fan to be typing these words, but I well ya, was disappointed. Being the mad Bond fan that I am , I made it a point to watch it in the opening weekend despite me not keeping well.. Came out disappointed!
Casino Royale to me is still the best Bond movie ever, followed by Die another Day.
Completely agree with you Saanil.

Cloud Atlas - A drama of epic proportions. Deviating from the chapter wise adaptation of the book which is linear in nature, the movie interweaves between the six stories of the novel, and strings them to climax simultaneously.
Superb acting in different guises spanning different epochs by Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Susan Sarandon, Hugh Grant and last but not the least Hugo Weaving.
Do NOT watch this film if you are not in the freshest of your minds, don't have over 2 hours on your hand, or are in a mood for something light.
The only weaknesses the film might possess are a shift from the narrative style maintained in the novel, and some makeup/prosthetic which appear funny at times.
I would rate this as a must watch , and would myself like to watch this film a couple more times.
And then read the book.
4.5/5 from me.

Skyfall: You could laugh yourself to death on the inconsistencies and incongruent situations in the movie. And you'll have a million questions by the time it's over. Unfortunately your grandmother told you not to ask any when you're listening to a story. It's difficult to decide whether they can't ideate adequately or if Ethan Hunts & Co have raised the bar. Maybe it's also got to do with the fact that the story was originally written by one person and completed by a team of three others.

Either way, it's sad to see Bond being outdone by the competition in the real world.

*SPOILER ALERT*

Skyfall

Moody. Vulnerable. Human. Charismatic. Womanizer. Brutal. Lethal.

That's what Sam Mendes wanted to portray Craig.

Drunkard. Confused. Old. Car Salesman. A-la-Jason-Bourne+Bruce+Wayne+Pierce+Brosnan.

That is what you get.

Don't get me wrong. I loved the fresh outlook of Bond Craig portrayed in Casino Royale. The classic chase scene through the construction setup to the embassy was p.e.r.f.e.c.t. You got the raw deal, a fresh look of a nascent Bond, a ruthless assassin than a charismatic womanizing gadget freak who always follows the same script : Follow bad guys. Be a one-man-army. Be trained to drive anything that has wheels (or doesn't). Do it with every woman you meet. Get caught in worst-case-scenario. Kill bad guys and win. Craig was different. Also there was no quotient of the male chauvinism (for those who it mattered).

In this movie he seems confused. Heck, I prefer the (new) Q far better than anyone else. He steals the show over anyone else.

Me thinks this might be the end of the Craig-season. And the sad thing - it's not even his fault!

Expectations: 5/5
Experienced: 3/5 (2 if you leave out Q)

Skyfall - nothing like any bond movie till now. a bit slow. first half is not at all interesting/exciting. more of a drama movie. just a little bit of excitement in second half. what happened to the gadgets, typical bond chase scenes and more inportantly bond girls? Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace are way way better.

About Skyfall - it seriously deviates from the Bond formula. This deviation began when we saw Pierce Brosnan all bearded and beaten up, and was taken up by Casino Royale where the rookie 00 was human enough to make mistakes. This deviation will work for some, might not work for others. As for me, I think it works and helps bring in newer followers to the franchise's fold too.

This humanization of the Bond character reaches it's finale in Skyfall. And this time the villain doesn't want world domination - it's much more personal.

I think it's one of the best made Bond films ever. And you're gonna see Daniel Craig in at least 3 more outings as Bond, really the role is his and he has become the character. I also think now that the humanization of the character is complete and it has gotten as close to realism as James Bond could get, the franchise will return to its flamboyant ways starting from the next iteration.

The Man from Earth (2007) - 5 star rating - I never thought I would give a film this rating. But intellectually this film answers many of my questions, if it would ever turn out to be true. Made on a shoe strung budget and shot in one room. Incredible.

Skyfall (2012) - 2 Star Rating - Never have I been more disappointed by a Bond film.
