Gannu, Sebring, Latheesh - you guys woke up so early on a working day to catch this. Wow! This movie is definitely on my list to watch today, but I never imagined there will be fans like you who would be waiting for a first glimpse so early. That’s something, you know.

I definitely want to watch it, but after I finish the day and before I wind down.

Drishyam 2 (Malayalam) : 4/5

Watched at night.
George kutty took it to the next level , super impressive plot twists .

Thankfully, Drishyam 2 was available here on Prime already around 9pm, so we didn't have to get up in the middle of the night to watch it :)

I think that Drishyam 2 is a pretty good sequel to the first part. But I think the climax of Drishyam 1 - first when the police look for the body in Georgekutty's home and then the big reveal at the end - had a bigger impact than Drishyam 2's climax. I think it has to do with expectations - in Drishyam 1 you don't expect Georgekutty to outsmart the police like he did. In Drishyam 2, you expect some big twist at the end.

The writer/director Jeethu Joseph has done a good job with the script to ensure that there are no unnecessary scenes. The performances are good all around.

I will definitely watch it again over the weekend. By then, I hope everyone is my friend circle would have also watched it, so that we can have some discussions on the movie and the story :D

Drishyam 2 (Malayalam).

Does not disappoint. I felt some parts to be a bit far fetched. Part 1 was tighter. But this is not too bad as well. Mohanlal aces Georgekutty once again. His mannerisms and subtle changes in expressions tells us that the Lalettan we loved back in the days is still within him.

Haha I watched it at 12:00 am sharp. Something like FDFS rl:

Drishyam 2

Everybody did point out what I have to say. Very rare that you get to say that the sequel is almost as good as the original movie. Totally loved it. Very well written, brilliant acting. Didn't like the instances where they tried to plug in "My G" ad. I know it's too early, but amazing rating on google (4.9) and IMDB (8.9).

Drishyam 2

Slow start and picks up well from half way mark. An extremely good follow-up to part 1, which normally doesn't happen with sequel.

That said, I felt more than the director, Jeethu Joseph the writer really shone through the movie.

I have watched Drishyam (Part 1 in Hindi). Do you guys recommend watching the Malayalam version of it first and then watch the second part or I can directly watch the second part?
And no I am not waiting for the Hindi remake of the second part ;)

I would say watch the first part in Malayalam so you connect with the characters. The second part is a continuation of the first with many characters remaining same.

Having watched both the versions, I would rate the Malayalam version higher than Hindi even if the story is the same.:)

Bucking the trend here, but found Drishyam 2 mediocre at best. Contrived twists, conveniently written characters appearing out of nowhere just so they can help the protagonist and a police force that seems to be in awe of “intelligence” - not to mention the pretence at meta-referencing and breaking the fourth wall!

To be honest, was not much of a fan of the first one either. Read the book ‘Devotion of Suspect X’ in 2012, and it doesn’t take much to deduce where the ‘inspiration’ came from.

They don't appear out of nowhere, and that is the thrust of part 2. I think this particular line of criticism is from those who didn't really understand part 2.

Lazy, or more aptly, contrived writing. Just my opinion - to each his own :thumbs up

D2 - 4/5.

Whether inspired or copied or has flaws, an absolute thriller it is. If looked through, there are incredibly minor details as well the director has taken care of.

Some troll meanwhile lol: (Please excuse the off topic)

As much as I didn’t want to watch the movie with super high expectations, I crashed early yesterday and kept an alarm for 3:45 AM. Quickly made a cup of tea and set out to watch the sequel today.

In my opinion Gannu and the rest of the folks watched it too late:)

One thing to know about Amazon releases is that the film will be available if you search typically by 10.30pm. in this case Drishyam went live at around 10.15pm.itself. So started at 10.30pm and was done by 1am on the morning of 19th. I tend to read reviews , so did not want anything to spoil it.

I honestly did not have too much expectations, thought it was going to be an attempt to cash in on the original in these difficult times for the movie industry. But loved the movie. In fact I watched it the 2nd time already and some of the minute actions and dialogues will be seen in a new light.

Some aspects may be considered too far fetched and convenient, but there are explanations given and it was ok considering the overall picture.

Not sure how effective remakes will be though considering this has released on Prime and Amazon has been promoting it like crazy. Considering the subtitling is very good, everyone can enjoy it.

Drishyam 2 is good for the thrills, but sadly nowhere near the thrills of part 1. Above average watch still. Clever of them to leave the possibility of part 3 open at the end :)
