Honey Bee:

A good attempt by Lal Jr. Storyline is common and the outcome is expected. A good perfomance by Sreenath Bhasi and Baburaj (although quite over at times). Too much of Kochi accent but portrayed it pretty well. Nothing much to say about female leads.

6/10 - Watchable

Soodhu Kavvum - One word Awesome

Finally after long time went and watched a movie in Theatre.
And I didn't get disappointed. Really enjoyed the movie from start to finish with all the humor twists and turns.
Another pleasant surprise though is that one of the character in the movie was my college mate (no touch with him though).
Rating - 4 / 5

Honey Bee- Just another "new-gen' movie with a group of youngsters smoking, drinking and farting. Supposed to be a fun movie. I couldn't find much 'fun' other than some good comedy scenes of Baburaj and Sreenath Bhasi. Bhavana looks gorgeous!! Overall, just an average movie. 5/10.

Thank You- It has a socially relevant theme but the script and direction spoils it. It would have turned out to be much better movie if the director had shown some more seriousness in the making. Jayasurya has done his role well. Worth a watch when it comes in TV. 6/10.

ABCD- After Ustad Hotel, Dulquer again plays a NRI and the role looks like tailor made for him. Don't look for a big story here. Watch it for two and a half hours of entertainment. Dulquer, Grigary and Aparna have done a good job. There are a lot of good comedy scenes. Second half could have been better. Worth a watch. 7.5/10.

Left Right Left- One of the best films released recently. Perfect script, brilliant making and some nice performance from the actors. Gopisunder's background score is superb. Indrajith comes up with his career best performance. Must Watch. 9/10.

5 Sundarikal:

This is an experiment like Kerala Café earlier, with 5 short movies, each about 30mins in length and directed by different people rolled into one movie. The stories/movies are all independent and do not have any interconnecting links.

The best of the lot, based on content and treatment, is "Sethulakshmi" directed by Shyju Khalid.

"Isha" directed by Samir Tahir and "Gauri" directed by Ashiq Abu are disappointing.

"Kullante Bharya" directed by Amal Neerad is interesting and the ending especially is heart-wreching.

"Amy" directed by Anwar Rasheed is a Fahad Fazil one-man show. He really is one of the most talented actors in the new generation.

So 3 points for 3 good movies and half a point for Isha makes it 3.5/5 for me.

Lyricist Vaali passes away. RIP.

A very well made movie.Tight story line, engaging script. Sleek editing laced with some vfx.

I didnt like Chennai Exp.Unbearable comedy.

Thalaiva got released overseas on Thursday evening itself, got to know through friends that it's not upto the expected level.Hence skipped.

Hoping to take family for "Pullipulikalum..." even tough its an average movie.

Friend, I need an advice related to the movie Neelakasham.
I do not understand a bit of Mallu, would I be able to understand/enjoy/appreciate the movie?

I am definitely watching this movie for sure. A road movie always fascinates me and I think Samir tahir has done a good job looking at the promos on YouTube. Please reply. I would post my review tomorrow

I think you should be able to enjoy it without understanding Malayalam. It is not a dialog heavy movie Plus a lot of dialogs are in Hindi and some in Tamil and other languages. The bits I enjoyed most are the cinematography and the road movie theme.

I am a little late with movies but watched the movie with the Kolaveri song. (because I liked the song so much).
So terrible that I had to switch it off after the first hour

Maryaan
As many have mentioned, hats off to the Cinematographer and ARR. These are the only 2 things very good in this movie.
Dhanush has worked hard, but somehow the movie lacked that punch.
ARR BGM is out of the world. Kudos to him.

Watch only for ARR BGM/Songs and Cinematography.

Rating: 5/10

Thalaiva- Just like director AL Vijay's previous film Thandavam, Thalaiva also looks good on paper but got lost in the execution! The story line is inspired from many movies like Sarkar and Nayakan. First have was decent with some romance, comedy and dance. Second half was lagging. Villain didn't create any impact. Second heroine was not needed but that actress looks better than the heroine! Vijay, Satyaraj, Amala did their part well. Overall its an above average movie.
My Rating- 6.5/10
