There was this customer who came down from UK to our office. He saw all the cows on Hosur road and asked my manager the next day if they were wild cows or domestic pets kept by families.

HIPPO race will keep you updated, right now trying to figure out the different classes/categories for them to participate.
Lol, Iceman, I guess it was the elephant race and the elephants were going there. The naked man might have read the dress code rules for the hippo race (come naked) and thought the same rules apply. hee hee

The second person doesn't even have to be a remote place. Some samples I have heard when living in Madras and visiting Bombay:

"Madras mein kaunsi bhasha chalti hai? (Which language is spoken in Madras?) Talegoo, Malyalam ya Kannad?"

"You are from Madras? Where in Madras? Kerala?"

hehe.... gotta love hippo races!

people here have the strangest ideas about india!

some of the best (worst) ones include:
- do people have cars or do they ride elephants/cows?
- india consists of only poverty and call-centers. (***?)
- All indians can dance really well.
- Is there McDonalds?
- All indian men where turbans.
- we only eat curry.
- we all speak like apu from the simpsons.
- indian people have a natural way with computers

cheers

Something I've experienced for 2 years while being a TA (teaching assistant) in Grad school. My students would want to know:
1) Where India was?
2) If India was in Indiana?
3) The same elephants & snakes & cows (etc etc) on the streets?
4) Flying carpets!! Do you get them in India? ( Wouldn't I own one, and save $1700 for a flight ticket, you morons!! ).
5) Does everyone learn 'fire-eating', rope walking & other stunts in school? ( oh hell yeah, we can't graduate without a few death defying stunts!).

That somehow seems like a valid question. Especially when you consider that Honda was non-existent in India till 8 years ago. And also that India is still missing many brands that Americans take for granted, ex: Cadillac, Ferrari, Subaru, Mercury, Lincoln.......
