Spare car keys, where do you keep them?

We will usually have a spare car key. I want to know where you keep them- 1. At home or
2. With you in a key chain always or
3. Hide it in the car or

I ask this because my key got lost on recent trip and fortunately I had taken the spare along but I fear even this can get lost if taken everywhere

Well usually when i am in Town i keep spare keys at home. But when I am out of town i take spare key with me.

Earlier i used to keep a duplicate key in wallet no matter i am in town or not. I remember i had 4 keys till last year until the duplicates one gave up. Now I have 2 and both are the ones i got when i bought the car.

@home, when I am home; with somebody (non-driver) when on long trips.

And make sure to swap keys every few weeks.

Hey That's a good tip.
I suppose it's to wear them both evenly? What about the remote keychain, do you swap them too? Right now I have taken the battery out of the remote and taped it to the side, and this along with the spare are safe in my secure key drawer.

Some people are more careless than others in handling keys, wallets and mobile phones which go hand-in-hand when you got out.

Wherever you keep them, make sure you swap at periodic intervals to keep them charged up and in working order.

At home...frankly i don't know. I need to ask my 18 month old daughter.

On a more serious note, when travelling out of town, i keep the spare key with one of the passengers.

Unless on a highway trip, my spare keys for cars are always at home.

Somebody can always pick it up and will reach you eventually.

It helped me once at the movies. I locked the car and my friend wanted to leave his bag in the boot. We came back and then he wanted to take a peek at the spare. i put my key aside(by mistake) and then accidentally closed the boot.

I called my brother, who came back with the key. It took some time but i was window-shopping anyways!

P.S. Damn, i still can't believe i forgot the key inside the car

I have more than 1 one spare key to lower my risk of going keyless!
Thankfully, I don't have a CATS or DOGS key with an RFID.
