In one of his travelogues, he mentioned that he has stopped watching the tube since a long time now. BTW - Any Tarak Mehta fans out there - its quite slapstick but its a superb show overall. The only show I ever watch on TV.

Coming back to the thread, I think Jay was a natural comedian, but Conan should be given some time to prove himself. People should not compare him to Jay but try and look at him as Conan.

Without a doubt, Jay Leno! Of course, the fact that he is a diehard petrolhead earns him brownies (in my books atleast). A true show man.

Jay Leno is irreplaceable.

His style is subtle and naughty and in no way loud which in itself is a breathe of fresh air compared to the loud comedians you generally come across.

Does not matter. People who can't adjust to the change will move on, bringin in newer audience that will appreciate Conan for what he is. Maybe 17yrs from now, those people will feel the same when Conan retires.

But here is the trouble. Conan is not some new guy, many of us have watched Conan on and off over many years. At least I never liked him, he is too irritating.

Jon Stewart is the only guy I can think of who can fill Jay Leno's shoe.

Jay Leno used to be awesome. But over the past few months, he seemed to have lost the plot. His jokes were just not that funny any more. I am glad he has decided to let go. I am yet to form an opinion on Conan though.

Whats with all this about giving Conan time?

He was the host of late night for 16 years, long enough to realize that he won't change and become like someone else.

Are the writers of the tonight show same or did Leno take them all away?

here's a gem from conan to assure everyone that the show will keep rocking!

"In the year 3,000.. Youtube, twitter & facebook will merge into one super time-wasting website called YouTwitFace"

No Thats's when there is nothing on HBO/Star Movies or mom suddenly realizes that she's seen this movie despite me telling her that we are watching it for the first time. You know how ladies are - black mailing to get the remote. I orkut then or worst case scenario, count the RPM's of the ceiling fan

If Conan inherits Jay Leno's script writers, then he may have some small chance. YouTwitFace is pretty lame. But Conan never had the natural ability of Jay Leno or Jon Stewart or even apna Russell Peters.
