I do not think he would have attempted suicide by blowing off the AC compressor guys.

It will most probably be the other way round. He would have tried to commit suicide by immolating himself and the resulting fire in the room would have caused the compressor to explode. This is a plausible reason if at all the person tried to commit suicide in the first place.

Then again very soon you may find one of the sniffing "chain se sona hai to jaagte rahiye" reporters suggesting that it was probably an attempt at murder of a sleeping person and the AC compressor blow-up was an attempt to cover the trail.

The point is, it's all a moot discussion. We do not know anything for sure, right?

Chances the compressors exploding even in a fire is very rare as they are built with heavy gauge steel. The weakest part ( the copper tubes & the Radiatorsare of weaker material compared to the Compressor casing) will give way first in case of afire and the pressure in the compressor increasing due ti internal or external fire.

Again as you said, we don't know anything.
