Brought a reebok watch, not happy at all

My mom brought me a reebok watch last month from a reebok showroom in golemarket Delhi (my parents live there), It was sent to me through an uncle, Now the moment i tried wearing it the strap gave away. The pin came out(not broken), and the loops broke. I thought i might be rough on it, so i took it to a repair shop and he said the pins are little smaller and the glue was not stuck properly by the manufacturers, i paid this guy 10 Rs and thought all has been fixed, The next day the watch died on me. i thought the battery might be dead, but when i looked at the date of manufacturing it said oct 09. The battery cannot die in two months. so upon checking i learned the hands move freely when you try rotating the key in the oposite direction without even pulling the key. i also noticed some dust inside the watch, upon closer inspection i also noticed the finish is just too cheap, the chrome is unevenly coated. It works when it feels like working and stops when it feels like stoping

I wrote many mails to the email provided at the back of the box, but they have decided not to respond. I took it to the nearest reebok showroom and they bluntly said we are just franchise and cannot help you, i tried sending it back but now courier company accepts watches.

I am not stuck with 2500 R worth of crap, and i would suggest all the members not to buy reebok watches because of the cheap quality. You can easily get a casio chrono for this money. I have lost money and faith in this product. I feel reebok does not sell products any more, its the brand that sells. I hope they have spent half of the money spent on ads on the quality check of their crappy products.

This is how the watch looks.

You shouldn't have bought a watch from a shoe company!
I always beleive in buying a product from a company specialised in that product!

Anyway, check the Reebok global site and contact/mail the Customer Service.

I got this watch free with my new Vodafone connection !!! Actually, they had an offer for either of 3 products 1)Reebok jacket, 2) Reebok shades 3) Reebok watch. I went in for the jacket and pestered them to give me the watch too , which they gave in to.

Frankly, the watch seems to be a cheap Chinese watch with Reebok logo..

Their shoes and tshirts arent great either, their floters are obscenly priced and they have a very low life, I guess these are for people who do not put them to actual use, May be a walk to the mall from the car is what they are made for. It was a gift, my mom brought this for me considering it will look trendy and the brand name, but who thought its going to be an experience like this.

The build quality tells me that its is a great idea to give this away free mostly. I tried contacting the company but no one seams to reply. The dealer is newly opened. i do not feel he might have done some ghotala, as i earlier mentioned, they are just franchise. I have no way to send it back to Delhi other than taking it personally whan i visit there which will happen only after March next year.

I feel by the time you reach next year they will not entertain also and they will put blame on you telling that you have maintained it like that. So better forget it and buy a new one and in the meanwhile keep calling or sending mails to the company. For the proof sake just take a snap of the watch with date on the pic and the watch atleast

I am glad someone started this thread on Reebok Merchandise ! Well it's also got United Colours of Benetton in the loop.

Thi is one BIG SCAM !!

A few months back I got a mail from India Today Group giving me an offer which was too good to be refused.

A watch from UCB + UCB Sunglasses for 999 Rs ( 500 additional for Handling ) total 1500 rs.

I went ahead and said yes, they payment option was pay on delivery.

2 weeks later a very smart package came home and I was asked to shell out 1500 rs. I said could I have a look inside and he said NO. Anyways I gave him the money took the package and opened it.

The watch was a cheap imitation of UCB watches and the glasses were absolute crap. Not even worth 200 rs for both the things. Even the case of the glasses was a 10 rs synthetic pouch.

Then these guys started advertising in National Daily's like TOI & HT. Full page ads for reebok tracksuits and shoes and watches and sunglasses.

PLEASE DO NOT BUY THESE.

The inside story is - they are made in Bulk by local factories in Faridabad & Jalandhar and are absolute pathetic quality .

I am surprised the watch was brought from a Reebok Showroom !!

UCB & Reebok both have very high quality norms.

Your Bad luck !

However, I feel that reebok was never into this watch business. So they must have taken it from some cheap watch manufacturer from south asia, labeled and marketed.
Thats why such things happen.

Sad to hear this experience Pramod. Reebok and UCB (as per vkochars post) seem to be intent on making a quick buck and hell with the brand image.

Is it worth filing an appeal in the consumer court for such things?

BTW, I've had a good experience with a similar magazine offer which had some nike shoes on offer. The magazine (new one) turned out to be crap, the shoes lasted a couple of year of very very rough use - treks, football, everyday wear to college.

I know for sure that the watch being advertised is sold to companies for Rs.250/. Yup, you saw it right the first time Rs.250.00.

Now if you see it in that light....

What these business houses do is that declare the watch as with having MRP of Rs. so and so...

Well, these are Marketing companies. Reebok, Nike have no production facilities. They do not make any of the products. They just sell them. The quality control for their contractors is top notch though. And it has always been that ways. They are a brand, they market and they sell. They don't make the shoes you wear, or the watch in Pramod's case. It is alarming though that there is no post sale support from Reebok in this case. Pramod, can you not catch hold of the retailer who sold your mom the watch? Surely there is a warranty...?

There is a warranty card in the box, Me and my mom are miles apart and no courier company is ready to take the watch. The packing is extreamly nice, i mean the box that the watch came in would be easily arround 200 Rs, i wish they would have handed me over a better quality watch rather than spending on the box which would anyways be redundant.

Well my parents have learned their lesson, but this means no gifts for me .

I got this offer in my mail last week, supposedly from India Today. If this is your Reebok watch it clearly costs only a couple of hundred rupees.

This is exactly what i have except for the dial is black. My parents kinda barged into a newly inograted showroom and found this. For them it was a trendy gift for their only son, the cashier said 2600, and they paid up. Ultimately the watch is a screw up.
