Bombay-Mumbai; Madras-Chennai; Calcutta-Kolkata; Bangalore - ??

What's this I hear about a proposed name change for Bangalore.

Is our Govt. left with no work that they sit and think of new names for our cities? Do they have any idea how much of a hassel it is to change the name of a major city?!?

Hey man you beat me...I thought of posting this thread the moment I came back home from college.
Yeah I heard about it too...BANGALORE TO BENGALOORU...***!!!Apparently some no good freak proposed it and our dear CM agreed to it.
Chennai sounded good, when it was changed from Madras...so did Mumbai when it replaced Bombay...Kolkata well, Calcutta was better!!
But BENGALOORU..it sounds like a bloody village name...it doesnt go with the image.
I.T CAPITAL AND SILICON VALLEY OF INDIA...BENGALOORU...sounds like a piece of $h!T.
Looks like they are busy...they are planning to chane MANGALORE TO MANGALOORU AND BELGAUM TO BELAGAVI!

Nah the north indian are different... u rename Ludhiana to London and they would be the happiest lot!

On a serious note, I just don't understand what they get out of all this - maybe the junta likes the fact that an anglicised name gave way to a regional one and the politicos get more votes.

Doesn't make a diff to me. I still call Mumbai-Bombay, Chennai-Madras, Kolkata-Calcutta and Bengalooru-Bangalore.

***, are they gonna do??? Arrest me?

I don't see why they need to chance the names in the first place!!! Will calling Bangalore-Bengalooru, improve the city in any way? Hell no!!!

What a bunch of insecure losers.

It is relevant. First, they give us rural roads, now they're topping it with a rural name. Perfect!!

Well, its actually BENGALURU. But then its ridiculous anyway. Instead of focussing on improving the infrastructure of the city, these crazy politicians go after fancy things wasting lot of time and money just to gain some fame...

They aint gonna stop at Bengalooru. We are gonna be bombarded with Mangalooru, Mysoru, Shivamoga (or will it be Shivamogu?).
Anyways, the politicians can rename this city to Crapuru for all i care but GIVE US DECENT INFRASTRUCTURE!!

I am all for the name change if **** **** also changes his name to **** ****.

Note from Mod : Please refrain from mocking individuals names. It maynot go down well with their supporters.

Well, the name is no way fancy. What I meant fancy is the idea of name change
itself. There are far more important things to do than this.
