What I am looking for is a Credit card that offers me a Priority Pass for International lounge access without spend limit criteria as some of my travel happens pretty quick. I'd love the cards also offer other benefits like conversion to miles for flights and hotels. I don't have SB accounts with HDFC or AXIS at the moment.

Go for Axis Atlas or HDFC Infinia or Diners Club Black or Marriott Bonvoy.
Axis Atlas is easy to get and no need for a SB account. One of the best cards for lounge access, plus, shifting the unrewarded spends on Sapphiro to this card will help you in making your entry into miles game.
HDFC maybe a little tricky to directly be eligible for their high end cards, so try your luck. Marriott Bonvoy card is relatively easy to get.

If your friend can shift his fuel purchases at IOCL & BPCL, he will be able to extract maximum benefit. The IndianOil RBL Bank XTRA Credit Card & SBI BPCL Octane cards are worth getting.
I have Standard Chartered SVT for my use case (CNG car with each fill lower than ₹2000), SBI BPCl card (not the Octane one) and HPCL cards (ICICI & Bank Of Baroda).
The main problem with SBI BPCL cards is that you have to go to the fuel bunk for redemption and find a person knowledgable enough to redeem those points. But this can be done once a year, so not much of a showstopper. Don't have experience with RBL, but as a bank, I don't like it.
I am using ICICI Fastag for fuel payments at HPCL bunks using their HP Pay app or DriveTrack machines. I load the Fastag using Amazon Pay balance which I get for 8-12% reward rate.

What are DriveTrack machines? I use this method too but I ask for their HP machine and pay using OTP. Is this called DriveTrack machine?

Sorry, I made a mistake. You are right, there are other machines.
Special PayTM POS which have the option for Fastag sale at HP bunks. Not all bunks will have it, but if your bunk has, you can pay directly from ICICI or IDFC fastags.

In fact it is the other way around for me. My regular bunk has Paytm PoS and HP issued machine. When you ask for fastag otp, they don't swipe at Paytm but bring out the HP machine.

I have a query for the expert users here.

I'm planning a trip to Canada during May/June this year with my family of 4. I would like to make the most of my points for the flight bookings on the Delhi-Toronto route.

Dear members,

Any pointers on the above query?

I use it for income tax and GST payments only, so can't exactly tell you about electricity bill payment charges. For the amount I spend on these payments I get 3.33% RPs which are valued at Re.1 (I plan to redeem on miles). Currently I am accumulating RPs so I can gift my papa and chacha US round trip tickets. These points have 3 years validity. On top of this I get 5x RPs on these payments. 5x reward is upto 7500 RPs.

Thanks, I missed out on 4/5 months of points due to not going deep into details. This is indeed for IT and GST. Utilities they have capped and now it is of no benefit.

Although I don't use any card for utilities but kindly explain regarding capped utilities.

There is 1% additional on anything above 50,000 for utilities (capped at Rs. 3000) adding to the platform charges of .85% or so depending on what you use. That’s almost 2% charges.

And there is a cap of 2000 points on utilities payments monthly. So doesn’t make sense.

Need some assistance.

My wife is travelling to Pune on Thursday.
She has HDFC infinity card which gives 2 domestic lounge access per quarter. So she is eligible to use Encalm Lounge at Delhi T3 airport.

My query is - the surname on her credit card is the one before marriage and the surname on her boarding pass is after marriage one. So will this be an issue to access the lounge or any solution for this? Will generating QR code beforehand via Dreamfolks site be helpful regarding this?

In my many many many visits to Delhi airport, hardly I was ever asked to show my boarding pass. The lounges here are so busy that no one has time for proper verification lol: So, your wife shouldn’t be facing any issue.

Anyway, to be on a safer side, generate QR beforehand.

She isn't impersonating and the service provider should not mind as long as she is able to explain the change via documents like a marriage certificate etc.

I am looking at paying my kids school fees (₹1L) through my Regalia Gold CC. While the T&C states that there will a 4RP/₹150 spent for this purpose, the school uses the gateway provided by Paytm for this transaction and also charges a convenience fees which comes to around ₹800 for the above transaction. I will be paying directly through my CC and not through a wallet. The part I am confused about is the below condition for payment on the HDFC website -
"Educational Transactions: International education payments are excluded from this charge. However, on education payments through third-party apps like (but not limited to) CRED, PayTM, Cheq, MobiKwik and others, a 1% fee will be charged and capped at ₹3000 per transaction"

Does this mean I will be charged an additional 1% over and above the convenience fees that the school is charging to use Paytm gateway?

It happened again today. Went to encalm lounge in T3 at 5.30am. It wasn’t a peak time yet and the queue was short. Still they didn’t ask for boarding pass. I simply handed over my credit card.

But this varies from airport to airport. I have been asked for boarding pass along with credit card at some airports.

The school is using a payment gateway provided by paytm, but you are swiping your card directly at a POS in school or on the school provided website I suppose. As far as my understanding goes, if you are not using paytm app to search, select the school and pay, the 1% additional fees would not apply.
You will still pay the Rs 800 convenience fee collected by the school to cover up the MDR they have to pay to paytm PG.

Thanks, will make the payment this time and wait for the rewards to get credited. If it works out, the reward points should be more than the convenience fees I will get charged.
