Re: Baleno lands on the roof of a house!

This episode or force majeure reminds me of the song by R. Kelly - "I Believe I Can Fly". Truly one off I must say. Maruti can add it to the Tagline of the baleno. "Car capable of flight". What anti climax it would be the army officer that lost his life in his flying Baleno! incidentally the tagline is "Made of Mettle" with mettle Meaning "ability to cope well with difficulties; spirit and resilience"

Re: Baleno lands on the roof of a house!

Such houses are common in Himachal. In many places actually they use the rooftops for parking and a tiny tea+maggi shop!

Glad that house was there actually.

Re: Baleno lands on the roof of a house!

Elon Musk must have to take back his words now. He had told a few days back:

Quote:
If you love drones above your house, you’ll really love vast numbers of “cars” flying over your head that are 1000 times bigger and noisier and blow away anything that isn’t nailed down when they land.
The flying cars are no longer impossible.

Re: Baleno lands on the roof of a house!

Looking at it positively, the house owner got a free terrace parking (provided they kept the slope which got the Baleno down).

But the brakes of Baleno seem really good, if it could stop on a dime so close to the wall, without much damage to its front.

What I was trying to say is due to light weight, car just flew and landed at that much distance further. If it was a heavier car at that same speed it may have landed in that gap between road and building. Simple physics. That's it.
It is the velocity of the projectile, the angle of launch and the wind resistance that determines the path.
Weight doesn't matter.

Re: Baleno lands on the roof of a house!

I think surprisingly the nose of the car is fine and so is the suspension. I thought they use a crane for such situations. But I guess this was faster
And the mass doesnt come into picture for a projectile in such cases.

Re: Baleno lands on the roof of a house!

Just for everyone's information those are NOT concrete slabs. Those are shuttering plates used for concrete casting of walls and roofs.

Best,

No Maruti is not testing any Swift as a Redbull car, these were modified by Redbull before the Mini Cooper Redbull cars came into India. Last I remember seeing the was back in 2012.

Also, they were not road legal.

The "L" was probably for his pilot's license.

Re: Baleno lands on the roof of a house!

This is a unique achievement by the driver .

An 'E' (expert) board should replace the 'L' board .

Re: Baleno lands on the roof of a house!

Even the windshield is intact after that massive jump and landing!

Seems like an advertisement for the Baleno now!

I think again the weight played an important part to move it out quickly.
